Default How to adhere sand in scrapbooks???

I want to demo a beachy themed scrapbook page and would like to use some sand on the edge of a torn piece of cardstock. How would you recommend adhering it??

My thoughts were to use versamark direct to paper technique along the torn edge of the CS and then to use heat and stick powder, heat it, apply the sand like embossing powder.

What do you think?? I haven't tried it yet and I'm running low on time to experiement.

Thanks!
Rachel

I would use something a bit thicker-like crystal effects and just spread it aroujd a bit with the tip or with a paintbrush.

i think i would also seal the top so loose sand didnt spill out and adhere to all of my other pages.. sand is beautiful contained.. but the nuisance of grit on everything would drive me crazy!

You could use sandpaper instead. Less messy! I did a similar thing with a beach page, though, using microbeads. I used a Zig glue pen (the blue glue) and the put the microbeads on the glued area.

Ooh! I like the idea of the microbeads. I'll have to try that one!

I have adhered sand using double sided super taky tape from the catalog called 'sticky strip' pg.224

Works great, just press your sand into the tape (once it is on your page) really well, the with a stiff paintbrush, brush off all the loose sand.

Good luck! The end effect is really worth the effort of working with sand.

a xyron will work. I saw it on DIY Scrapbooking. You could look up the directions on the website.

I have actually used the 2way glue pen to attach sand on a beach page. I made the page 2 years ago and it still looks great with no grit!! Try it on a scrap piece of paper and see what you think!

I used sand on a card and ran my paper through the xyron machine for the permanent adhesive. If you run your paper through both ways, you have one side to attach to your scrapbook and the other side you can use for the sand. It worked really well and the sand did not come off.
