I have made seasonal bread cloths as gifts. Even stamped some on one side of the cloth. Nice gift!!! All who received them thought it was such a nice...useful gift.
It isn't paper related but I googled something like "recycled wool mittens" and found a pattern and video clip from Channel 5 in Utah. I have been buying wool sweaters and Goodwill and washing them in hot water so the fibers felt together. Then you cut them up and make mittens. I thought I would never go through all the sweaters so I started making stockings, too.
Ok, I give up, where do I find the video clip on how to make those mittens?? I feel like one of the kittens, who lost her mittens....

ahhh- would some one have written directions (typed) on the "recycled mittens" - I have dial up so videos are out of the question- this sounds really great.

I just did one of the sugar scrubs that are on the Domino Sugar website. Some of the ingredients are hard to find. I didn't know where to find essential oils. (Is the oil used in the Glade or Airwick scented oils an acceptable substitute?) I used the recipe that called for almond oil, which I found in the baking area, but that was quite expensive.
Anyway, I put it in baby food jars. Now I just need to decorate the jars and add a tag. My daughter is going to give them to her friends in the dorm.
They smell really good!
Almond Roca recipe needed~
I am looking and looking and can not find the recipe for Almond Roca. I know I made it last year and got the recipe here on Splitcoast. Everyone loved it and it was easy to make. Does anyone know where I can find the recipe? I am having trouble locating it again.
I found the recipe for Emeril's Essence on the Food Network website and mixed up several batches. I used spice jars from the Dollar Store and made labels with suggested uses.

i have very good recipes for these! i will get down to my scraproom and post them this weekend! you will need beeswax pearls(i use natural unbleached). pm me to find out where i bought them in case it's not ok to mention in this post.

I wasn't able to find the big size of Crunch & Munch, but used 3- 8oz. boxes from the Dollar Store. Much cheaper & tasted great. I'll do white chocolate too. One suggestion-seal this very tight if you take it to a party, or else you may not have any left by the time you get there.
White Trash is another easy snack to give out. Alton Brown's recipe is the one I've been using for a long time. Always a hit.
no, i wouldnt reccomend using the glade stuff either.
but, i dont see why you couldnt use extracts for cooking. like vanilla, orange, lemon. they are made to eat but i dont think they will hurt the skin.
you could also add a drop or 2 of perfume.

this year, i bought a bunch of big jar candles, for $2 and $3 each. I'm in the middle of making tags to go around the neck of the jar. The tags (which are like big signs) double as a Christmas ornament.
I wrapped patterned paper around the giant Hershey's bars, and am adding some folded money into a gift tag on the front (for my 13 and 16 year old cousins). I got the Hershey's on sale at walmart for $1.50 each. I didn't want to just give them money in a card LOL
I bought a few little 'Airline' sized Bailey's Irish Cremes in different flavors ($1.50 each), and am making grown up snowman soup. I'm adding packets of hot cocoa, mini candy canes, and a little 'holiday spirits'... i could wrap this in a mug, but I worked at a Starbucks for about 8 years, so no one i know needs another darn mug LOL. so i have to figure out how i want to wrap these (maybe the tin pails at Target)
so i have the young, old and really old (can't drink cause of blood pressure etc) a gift. The kids get candy, the adults get Loopy Cocoa, and the older adults get candles. I didn't spend more than $5 a gift (including supplies) but i am spending time instead (at least an hour each so far on the candle tags, and I'm still nowhere near done.

DD amd I made Fizzie Bath Bon-bons for her girlfriends. She already passed them out so I do not have a picture but we made the fizzie bath bombs, dipped them in melted soap and added sprinkles on top. These were place in the tiny paper cupcake holders. THey were very cute. We had so much fun making these together and they were pretty simple.

Sempermom-I'm going to try your bath salts this weekend. What a great idea, and I LOVE things with just a few ingredients.

Lynnewithanne, I actually work with Domino Sugar and that's so great you found our sugar scrub recipes. Did you finish decorating your jars yet?

Yes, I have made bath salts, using epsom salt and lavender essential oil and I made a brown sugar scrub with brown sugar, olive oil and sweet almond oil. I got the sweet almond oil from the health food store along with my lavender essential oil. I also made a sign on an old fence post, hope, faith and peace for my sister along with an altered composition notebook that has a vintage photo, words of hope, faith and peace and I need to make a bookmark and it will say, fill your paper with the breathings of your heart. Oh and I made flax seed eye pillows too, these are for my mother and sister. I need to finish decorating the scrub jars. I took baby food jars and put it in those. It's all coming together. Everyone's ideas are just wonderful, I love hearing about the gifts you all are making. Have a peaceful day!

Anyone know if you can you use soap fragrance in bath salts? I happen to have a bunch of soap fragrance because I was going to try that hobby too (and haven't had time) so I would love a reason to use them.
I did cheese balls that I put in a pretty Christmas dish with a cute Christmas spreader and some sleeves of crackers for my neighbors this year.
I would really like to try the flax seed pillows like Cass2sons suggested for next year. You heat the pillows in the microwave right and use them for your aches and pains, right? But, I've never seen flax seeds. Where do you get them?
The flax seeds can be found in a health food store and sometimes I have seen them in regular grocery stores. You can eat them, they are full of the omega oils. Some may come already chopped up but you want the full seed. You could use rice too.

My daughter and many of her friends are in the 3-5yr old age group and for birthdays we've been doing craft boxes. Inexpensive plain cardboard box from M's they can decorate themselves under $2 then I fill them with Stamped images that they can colour and use for making their own cards. You can also include bits of ribbon, buttons and scraps of paper. These have been a HUGE hit! It can be time consuming to stamp a bunch of images but I do an entire sheet of paper of one image then cut it up and put a couple of each image in a box- assembly line style Also, you don't have to use your cardstock for the images, they are kids and I feel that regular white paper is totally acceptable. It can be a great gift and inexpensive.
My daughters LOVED giving this type of gift all the way up to 2nd grade! Lots of neat things to fill the boxes with!
