Help!
I belong to a stamp club, and we are ordering next week (we get together once a quarter.) Anyway, I want to buy the three background stamps, but I love the hodgepodge hardware. Every card I see with the cute little brass fixture just brings me happiness. However, the price ($26.95) seems a little steep. My husband and I were calculating, If I stamped 50 cards a year and had hardware on only half of them...
Anyway, I haven't seen much else out there, I really like the SU hardware, and all of my internet time is devoted to SCS, so has anyone seen anything else out there, or have ideas?
Thanks for sharing/listening!
Lisa
A day later...
Thanks so much for all of the opinions, it's nice to know that HPH is the best deal...
Hey! From what I hear the stampin up hodgepodge is the best by far and it's really woth it in the long run considering the amount you get inside. I use mine often and have looked else where as well , making memories things are cute but I have to admit i am truly impressed with my hodgepodge by far . I am in hopes stampin up will eventually allow us to buy refill packs as well . Well JMOPO

The HPH has 138 pieces, plus 100 brads. IF you can find similar hardware, you will find that you get only a few pieces & pay anywhere from $3-5 per pack. There was ALOT of research done by the SCS community when the HPH was released, and if you can find cheaper hardware, it's going to be a lesser quality. And you don't get the cute little storage tin!

It's definitely worth it! I keep it by my side while stamping. Everything looks better with hodgepodge and it is a very fair price. I don't think you could buy the same amount of metal seperately for less money. HTH

Here is a post where they broke down the prices on the hodgepodge... Forums at Splitcoaststampers
(clip and pasted for you
by: traciac
Clips and photo anchors (64 pieces)-- 9 cents each
Buckles and picture hangers (54 pieces) --18 cents each
Label holders (20 pieces) -- 37 cents each
Brads (100 pieces) -- 4 cents each
Buy it, you won't regret it! I just got my first one and it will definitely be a must have again as soon as I run out. It is a great deal and there are so many different kinds of hardware in it... it just takes cards up a notch in my opinion. My favorite are the paper clips that come in round, square and s shaped!

I love the paperclips but actually love it all. I REALLY hope they do have refills. If they do I will buy all three kinds. I have antique brass and absolutely love it. I just scanned and submited my cards for April for the christmas card challenge and found something was missing. I added a clip in the corner and now I really like it and plus it keeps the card closed (last week's sketch) which doesn't quite stay closed on it's own.

As an alternative, EK Success has a punch that is a "buckle." It comes in round and square shapes. I bought one at a scrapbook store for under $6. I have punched "buckles" in gold, copper, silver cs, as well as other cs colors. The gingham ribbon fits through it, and one can also make paper ribbon to put through the buckles.
Hope this helps.

Kurtis thanks for posting this. Your chart really makes the point for me!
I am a scrapper and always thought I could find better prices online. I did look a little when the HPH first came out, but after a little looking the prices weren't any better and I'd be paying lots of S&H to get all the pieces; I bought the HPH. I too hoard and hope they offer refills. I'd also love to see them carry the bright metals along with the antique colors.

Lisa, IMHO I would get the background special this month and get the hardware next quarter. It's a guess that they won't retire the HPH set, but one that I would be willing to bet on. How often do you get 50% off a background? I have the HPH and I must admit I love taking it out and looking at it, but not so good at actually using it. The backgrounds however, get used all the time! Have fun with whichever you choose - new toys are always fun!!

Dang, Kurtis!!!! That's one heck of a to-the-point analysis and sure does make it pretty clear just how good a value it is! I wasn't expecting it to be quite as good as that and WOW! TFS!

Another thing I did was buy the HPH kit at the same time as a friend did and we split the Antique brass and pewter sets. I am a demo and I still use it for workshops. I get great sales off it so it's worth it!
