Default Hobby Lobby?

Okay - I've never even heard of Hobby Lobby until about a month ago when I realized that one is going in about 10 minutes from me. As far as I know, it's completely new to Utah. Is it a good one? What's the skoop with this craft store?

It is a great store!! They have great sales. Just the other week they had all their rub-ons and stickers 50% off. I stocked up on the making memories rub-on alphabets. They also have lots of nice home decor (picture frames, furniture, lamps, etc).

We have one and I love it. They have about everything you can imagine and the competition with our local Micheals tend to keep both their prices in line. Hobby Lobby has a bit of everything, Material, embroidery, framing, painting, models, beads, floral, kids crafts, dollhouse making, wood furniture you finish yourself, cake decorating, a ton I'm not listing and of course Stamping and Scrapbooking. I try not to go very often because I tend to spend 2-3 hours in there every time I go. I don't usually buy a lot as I tend to buy from myself but I love to look around. A fabulous place to shop for gifts. They have tons of decorations for the home and seasonal. Obscure things you don't see anywhere else. It is a great piece of eye candy. You just need to block yourself out a couple of hours and browse. Enjoy!!

Those of us with a HL near already know what great stuff is there!!!You need to post when you've visited and let us know how you feel! Subscribe to their weekly ad online that way you'll always know what is on sale. And as someone else already mentioned, they have 40% off coupons regularly. The only drawback I have is that they are closed on Sundays when I'd like to shop, but I'm sure their employees appreciate the time off to spend with their families so I'll get over it!

Oh, I'm so jealous! The nearest HL to me is at least three or four hours away. When I was driving back and forth to school in Georgia I used to always stop at the one in Florence, SC since it was just off of I-95 and made for a great place to get out and stretch your legs a bit. Their prices are much better than Mike's, IMO, but the thing that won me over was their HUGE yarn selection (I had never seen a chain craft store with two full aisles of just yarn, and with such a fabulous range of brands) and gorgeous home decor accessories.

 HL in Utah......My checkbook is shaking in my purse. It looks like it won't be open until sometime in 2007 and will be in South Jordan. 11400 South 3600 West to be exact. I can't wait!

Yes Hobby Lobby is an awesome store. Before I got into the stamping I would buy a lot of my beads from them when they would put them on sale for 50% off. I love the store & they have lots of selection of different things as mentioned. I wish I had a Hobby Lobby and a Michaels in my area.....I have to drive an hour, but it is usually worth the drive...just hurts the ol' check book a bit, lol

No - this one is opening within a couple of weeks! It's in Layton! Are the Utahns familiar with where Granite furniture used to be (by ShopKo) on main street in Layton? That's where! And they're preparing to open very soon! After reading all your replies, I'm pumped!!!!!!!! It sounds great! There's a "Roberts" craft store even closer to me and I'm totally hooked to them. Love them. They always have a 40% coupon and don't make you have it with you. But Hobby Lobby sounds bigger! Can't wait! Thanks for getting me excited girls! Not that I NEEd another place to go crazy. I need another craft store like I need a broken toe. But...since their coming - I may as well visit!

HL is great, they really have awesome sales! One of the only places to put things 50% off from time to time.

The only thing I really don't like is that they are closed on Sunday. I know they say it's so their employees can have time to worship and spend time with family, but the managers still have to work! Kinda defeats the purpose if you ask me.

You live in Utah. I so miss Roberts. I have to shop at J** or M**, but they are nothing like Roberts and I have to wait for the cupons. Not to Hijack the thread, but when you get your Hobby Lobby could you let me know if it compares to Roberts. My experience is that Roberts is cheaper because it is owned by Provo craft. Everything at J** and M** is more expensive I wonder if HL is the same.

Do you know how lucky you are???? Mine is an hour away, so I don't visit much. Oh how I wish it was as close as our Michaels, JoAnn's and Pat Catan's. I would be there every week with my coupons.

I just went to their website. Corporate policy is that all stores are company owned and they want to keep them within 1000 miles of HQ in OK City - that's why there are none on the west coast or many east coast states...

What an interesting policy... wonder what the reasoning was (corporate can reach all stores within a 2 hour plane ride?) Curious!

wish would could have them here in Minnesota. I am so tired of Joann's and Michaels. Same ol stuff with nothing new coming in. The only time I get excited about michaels, is when someone on here mentions that they have NEW $1.00 stamps, and then I go in there.

My HL is getting ready to rearrange their merchandise.....So they have marked down some of their stamps to almost rock bottom prices! I have certainly been busy looking for good bargins!!
Some of their 12x12 scrapbook paper is now 9 cents a sheet!

After reading about Hobby Lobby many times in the posts here I had to look it up to see if there was one in Arizona. There isn't one at this moment but there's a brand new one opening up in Avondale-on the west side-in November. I now live in Mesa (east side) but used to live in Avondale. Whoo hoo! Can't wait to see what it's like.

That is good news for this snowbird. Exactly where is it?
I used to shop at HL in Omaha, about 8-10 years ago. Recently I stopped in at a couple in Colorado. It seems to me they have changed a lot in those years - for the better. I got great paper 1/2 price, and had a great time looking.

Default Hobby Lobby sales

I have 2 HL within 20 minutes from each other. I have noticed big changes in the Scrapbooking/rubberstamping craft area. They are having to expand their area so they can fit all of the stuff they keep getting in. It keeps growing.

I'm not sure about other HL stores, but my local HL will issue rain checks for an item that they are out of, so when it comes back in stock you can get it for the 50% off price. Also, find out what sales person is responsible for ordering items in the scrap/rubberstamping craft area. They can place an order for the item they are out of and it will arrive the following week (in most cases).
I LOVE HL!!!
You will love it too!

Love Hobby Lobby. They have excellent sales. Lots of stuff for 50% off and they have the 40% off coupon lots of times. They also have lots and lots of clearance for really cheap. I just got a big pack of vellum tags that had been 6.99 for .78 on Monday. Awesome store.

My favorite store, hands down! Just last week I got a Christmas picture frame, 10 sheets of white cardstock, and 2 (yes TWO) Stazon Inkpads... drumroll....for $10.00

They often put their stamps and inkpads (and other great stuff) on 50% off - I'm getting excited just thinking about it!

OoooOOoooo... Lucky! The closest Hobby Lobby to me is almost 1.5 hours away. It is a great all-around craft store! They have a lot of stuff that Michaels and JoAnns don't carry!

Wow! I hadn't heard that HL was coming to Utah. The South Jordan store isn't too far from me . . . can't wait until it opens. I guess that in the meantime I'm going to have to plan a trip to Layton and check it out!!

I know how you feel, but I think I may have been more excited. I used to live in Indiana (my mom was a manager at HL) and then I moved to Ohio. The nearest HL was an hour away. But then a furniture store went out of business and a HL went in, 2 miles from my house!!!! I get so excited when ink goes on sale, and they have a clearance section in the corner where embellishments go 40% or more off. I also work in stained glass, which I get there sometimes for 50% off. Anything you want to craft they have it. It just might make you want to learn a new one.:p

I love HL! Almost everything will go on sale every two months or so, so don't buy stuff unless you can't wait or you think it might not still be there later. They're always getting new products in, especially right now in scrapbooking, so check it out every few weeks to keep up. I love when their stamps, paper, and stickers go on 50% off, cause I can buy stuff to play with that I might not pay full price for.

I love it!!! It's become my new favorite craft store in the last 10 months or so. I don't know why I didn't pay more attention before. I'm glad someone pointed out that 40% off coupons are basically every other week. I like the weeks in between when they offer things like Wilton 1/2 off, too. :-D

Hobby Lobby has several stores in the Houston area...finally one is coming closer to me as well--They have great sales!

My older daughter called it "Hobbily Lobbily" when she was a preschooler.

I love their home decorating "stuff!"

I love HL. They have items in every category on sale every week. And who can beat the 40% off every other week... to print and use as many times as you want?!

I live directly across the street from HL, literally. I have to restrain myself.

Is it worth a 40 minute drive (each way)?
