I've been stamping for many years and in all those years I have always stamped with wood blocked stamps.
But recently, I started buying the clear mount stamps. I was going through an online catalog (hero arts) and I noticed that they had sectioned off a catalog into "clear stamps" and "cling stamps". I thought these were basically the same thing. Are they not? If not, could you tell me the difference?

"Clear stamps" generally refers to photopolymer or acrylic stamps, and "cling stamps" are generally rubber stamps mounted on cling foam (as opposed to wood-mounted). Both are used with clear blocks when stamping. It gets confusing, I know...

Oh okay. I believe I have both the clear & cling then. ;)

:rolleyes:No, this will put a few of you in stitches. I have not used my Cling Stamps yet because my husband has not yet finished the blocks I thought I needed them mounted on. So much for my research work, huh. Spose he'll be a bit perturbed with me for wasting his time. Nah. So remember what our teachers taught us. The only stupid question is theone that we don't ask. Mine.

Yeah - the most recurring lesson I've had to learn (over and over and over again) is to open my mouth and SAY (or, in this case, ASK), so I totally hear ya
Well, maybe you can use the blocks for something else. This is a fun place to visit and just ask away, as we all continue to learn new things and people are great.
Have a great New Year!
If you look at the Stampin UP catalog, they add to the confusion by calling what everyone else would refer to as cling stamps as "clear mount". I guess it makes sense when compared to "wood mount", but it would be clearer if they just called them cling...

LOL, Traci! I was just going to say this myself! I know it did make perfect sense to SU at the time. After all, originally their choices were foam-mounted and wood-mounted stamps, so adding this unmounted option with that name is perfectly sensible. To them.
Ah, well...I doubt there's any question in the world that can't be answered here SCS. We are good...;)
