Clar Bear thanks for the Modge Podge clue. I usually get more of it on me than the object I'm modging. I have left many a mess. Actually one gal called me a slob. I was the only art teacher that told the kids to go for it when they applied glue. I told them glue was their friend. Your ideas are so great I can get my grandperson into these & have a ball. She's also a scout.
I copied done one of the games. Where can I get some other games?
Bonnie
I just went to the gallery and searched "games" and I pulled up all sorts of them! I also have a few other game ideas rolling around in my head that I might have to sit down and try to make one of these days (along with everything else!).

Clara - MP is just too wet for me, and fummey (spelling?) As much as I love the little paint streaks in it, the Gel just works better for me. Learned about the Gel from Tim Holtz, and boy does that guy know what he's talking about!
The smell of MP doesn't bother me (but then, I've also been blocked up for 5 months even though the doctors tell me that I'm "normal"), but I do agree that it is a bit too wet. Maybe I'll try the Gel stuff and see how that works for me! Thanks for the tip!

Oh, gosh, really fun ideas. Glad I stumbled on this thread. I have cousins having babies and would love to have a little something handmade for them each year. Here's a little list of things I might make each year as they grow that I just came up with to jot down in my stamping journal that I keep wishes and notes in:
2 year olds: Busy book w/name tag holders
3 year olds: Alphabet game
4 year olds: Memory game
5 year olds: Tooth fairy tin
6 year olds: Coloring gift
7 year olds: Tic Tac Toe
8 year olds: Dice game(s)
9 year olds: Card game(s)
I bet you could make the tic-tac-toe pieces on shrinky dink too and they'd hold up really well to the wear and tear.
I have had a ball looking through your gallery. You must be a SU person. Say, can you tell me the best glue for cans? You have really inspired me.
Bonnie
Hi Bonnie,
I am sure you will get lots of other ideas but what I use is either the S.U. glue stick, modpodge with foam brush, snail/mono adhesive, or xyron. At convention we decorated the accents and elements tin and I used my mono/snail. It is still adhereing very well. ;-)
Thanks for your help Ruthie. I got caught up doing other things and haven't gotten back to gluing on tin. I want to make my mom a recipe tin though with all her favorite recipes in it. I'm exporing recipes from my sis now. It has to be as special as her cookies that are all butter /melt in your mouth good.
how about a ring of animals and their names for the little one? Maybe they are too old for that. When my dd was young she liked to go thru the ring and name the animals (colors, numbers, letters etc).

Sorry it has taken me a while to get back here to post my pictures - my camera was on the fritz for a while and I only recently got these pictures onto the computer! Anyway, what I ended up making was a Fun-To-Go box, with a Tic-Tac-Toe game, matching card (with colors and vehicles), and some slinkies in a decorated box (an old Bare Minerals box) which would be ready to "grab and go"! I am super happy with the way it turned out and really wanted to thank all you lovely ladies for giving me such wonderful ideas! I am looking forward to making another one (okay, looking forward, but not wanting to for a while! ;) )! So, here is what I made: Fun-On-The-Go Box by YouInkIt at Splitcoaststampers
I made mugs for the kids in our family last year - got them at the Dollar Store - the kind that you can add your own design in. Target/WalMart have them too, but they are $4 there - they are more at Starbucks too. Lucked out at one of the Dollar Stores. they were a hit and told them that we would get together to redo them when they got bored with the design.
The paint cans are HUGE with kids in our family. They just love to get one and to keep their treasures in it. For the girls I put a boa around the top (saw it on this site!) and it makes it very cute.
I made the little lunch boxes too, did one with Captain Jack stickers from WalMart and our little Abe loved it so much. he keeps all of his gold coins in it and carries it wherever he goes. The Target $1 mailboxes were a hit too!
And notebooks have been big, the girls like to pretend they are diaries so I look for ones that look like a diary. Beaded pens too!
My sister bought one of our artistic nieces an American Girl card making kit - came with cards, images, stickers, and that would be fun to remake with stampin stuff. Cardstock folded into cards, envelopes, stamped out images, tape or photo tabs for them to stick things, stamp on labels and cut them out for stickers (they sell the full sheet ones that work perfect for that). Add some buttons, ribbons, whatever and I think that would be a fun gift.
