Question Help! what do I do...

I have been buying SU for years and have tons of wooden stamps that I don't use as much. Also a lot of stampers don't use wooden stamps anymore. I have 100 that need to go but I don't know how to get rid of them.

Ebay isn't an option due to the fees and shipping costs.
I'm in Canada and shipping is high for most people out of country.

Many from what I see on the Buy/Sell thread most are clear stamps and foam cushioned stamps.

All the wooden stamps I have are still in their cases.

I'm even willing to give them away as long as whoever is interested pay the shipping...but I'm not sure if even it would be worth it.

Any ideas or help would be much appreciated!

I believe that you can list them in the buy sell forum and just state these are wood mounted stamps the buyer pays shipping costs.

type of a thing. there are still a lot of people who do buy wood mounted stamps, and if the people want that set in particular if they are "unmounted" they can do it when they receive them...

If you just want to get rid of them and not sell them, check with local schools or shelters to see if they could use any? Or if you have an online place to sell things locally (in the US it's Craigslist), try listing them there?

There's a little maple leaf icon you can use in B/S/T for your post so that people see it's Canadian. People who want the stamp will buy wood mount and convert. Or you can post that it's for sale for shipping costs only if you'd like.

There are a lot of people who still prefer wood stamps to clear. I'm pretty sure if schools don't want them or you don't have something like Craigslist in Canada, people would pay the shipping for several stamp sets.

list them with the maple leaf icon, I would definitely have a look! A suggestion if you are donating the stamps; a seniors home. The care home I used to work at does cardmaking in their recreation program and adult daycare program, a care center near you may appreciate the donation.

Most of the stamps I have are already mounted. I might have a few that may not be.

I looked at the buy and sell and wasn't sure if anyone would take them. I'm in Canada so I didn't think anyone would be all that interested due to shipping costs.

Also I didn't see any Canadian buy and sell threads, mostly in the US.

We have kiijjii which is like Craigs list. I checked on there and not many people are looking for SU products in my area. I also don't drive which is a pain. I did find a women's program for young moms and they have a scrapbooking club but its an hour away. I have to say that finding that website was a shock because I've been on the net all day looking for somewhere in my area. So far I contacted a retirement home by email. So I hope they respond soon.

I will post some of the stamps I have with links and hopefully get some pic up too.

I found a retirement home nearby so I'm hoping to get a response.

I have enough to go around lol.

I'm in Canada too and I've sold a couple of things in the B/S/T forum. One was to California and one was to England! It was simply a case of me having what the person was in search of, and they were glad to be able to get it, even with shipping being more expensive.
So don't hold back from listing your items for only that reason.

Also, many Canadians are Splitcoast members and might want to buy from you. Lots of members from the US in that forum are only willing to sell to US buyers (which is completely understandable due to shipping, etc.), so you could be the saving grace of somebody in Canada who's looking for an item you have.

Good luck! I recommend reading the terms in the B/S/T forum thoroughly before you start so you know how it all works.

I am in the US and have bought wood-mount sets from Canada. The shipping didn't seem so bad to me, especially since I was getting such a great deal on the stamps. If I had bought the sets here in the US brand new, it would have been more expensive.

I'm on a Facebook stamping buy/sell here in the states. People buy lots from there and at good prices. There's even an "in search of" thread. You could see if there is a Canadian group on fb.

I have sold used sets at a garage sale twice. I may only get $5 to $7 a set but I was happy with that.

I think wood sets still sell.

Ok I will try the B/S/T

It might take me awhile to list them all. I have over 100 sets
Should I attach links. ?

I want to have a garage sale but noow we need a permit we have to pay for or we get fined something like 500-1000 bucks.

OOh I meant to say if the people "prefer" unmounted most are not shy about unmounting their stamps...

and I think quite a few of the SU sets have galleries here so, you could link to the index shots of any given set and that would save you some time from having to photograph them all. ( not all the old sets are listed but, a lot of them are)

You all have encouraged me with all of your ideas!

All I really wanted was to get rid of them but to be useful, especially how much most of them cost.

My area isn't to popular with Stamping so I was sort of at a loss.

Wow-I cant believe you have to have a permit to sell stuff in your own front yard! I hope that it isnt expensive or hard to get.

If a donation place is far from you, you could always spread them out in big batches on the dining table take a pic and send them the pics in email. If they want it, you just ship it to them. Beats driving an hour one way. Flat rate boxes. You'd need several.

But I think it's true that your fellow Canadians might be very interested so go for the B/S board!

I have a crappy camera and it would take forever to take decent pictures.
I have stamps going back to 2002 lol

Lets hope I can find a few. I'm going to google as many as I can for online interest as well. I'm going to check now to see if they have some of the sets

Crazy right!!!?? lol. I don't think we need to pay for it but if the town comes around to check things out we can get fined. Its ridiculous. 2 people in the last 5 yrs on my street got a warning... so dumb... oh well

Fellow Canadian here I can tell you that as such, I am thrilled when I see the Canadian icon in the Buy and Sell! Last year I was looking for some older stamps and was happy to pay the shipping(yes it was high, I got mostly wood sets and some card stock) but so many Americans only ship US so I was happy!

You can always see what interest there is, nothing wasted by posting them here except the time it takes to put it out there. Good luck

I've bought wood mount stamps on eBay and here on BST. If the price is low and the set is one I love, then the postage doesn't really bother me. And with the way many eBay users are now using the International shipping programme, it's starting to get too expensive... I can live without tracking!! So BST is my preference, I've seen several recent listings of stamps that have been offered free with the taker paying shipping.

I went to work today and asked if anyone uses stamps or anyone they know that makes cards and I have a few people who might be interested. So we'll see how that goes too.

I don't know why. We're not on city streets, I'm one the oldest neighbourhoods in this town so who know.

Wow, I've never heard of this, but maybe it's a York Region thing (I'm in Peel). Or maybe it's new in the last few years? I see lots of garage sales in spring around here, but then again I don't know anyone personally who's had one recently, so maybe they are all having to get permits. Maybe this permit deal is the norm in the GTA now??? :(

I know I haven't heard anything so stupid myself.

People have them all time around here without permits. So I don't know how often the fines given. I have to have one this one year I have too much I like to hoard and keep because I think use it in the future...

I finally got half my stamps up..and more to go. They're aren't a lot of people around my area who has stamping groups and things like that.
I didn't know if I had a garage sale if anyone would be interested.

If you do Facebook, look in your area for FB yard sale pages. What about local Craig's List? Maybe something local would be a good option.

Some one else suggested the FB idea and still plan on checking it out.

We have Kijiji which is the same thing.

I started off with the B/S on here.
