Help - Studio G clear stamps in cd cases - can't see the details!
I'm having a tough time wording this question, so stick with me here.
I have a number of the $1 clear stamps sets from Michaels. Each stamp is stuck to a piece of plastic on which is a printed copy of the image. But once you remove the stamp from that plastic sheet, you don't have a label, so to speak, just the raised portion of the stamp to use for identification. Does that make sense? So... When I go to put each stamp inside the clear CD case, how do I then easily and quickly see which stamps are which? In other words, how do I recreate what PTI does with thier clear stamps and cd cases?
You could always photocopy the clear plastic reference sheets onto acetate and run that through a Xyron. Just stick the acetate onto the outside of the CD case and you're all set. You may need to do this at a copy shop as not all acetate can run through a copier, but it would give you a result similar to the Papertrey labels. Hope that helps!
The minute I put them in the case, I coat them all with black permanent ink, let them sit a few hours, wipe off excess and they are good to go forever!
same for me and I also do this with any clear stamp with small writing
i just leave them attached to the plastic sheet and put them in the cd case that way so i know when one is missing or in use as it's spot is empty.
hope there isn't anything wrong with doing this, but so far i haven't had problems. of course, i hardly ever use these stamps, i must admit, so if they are decaying or something i wouldn't know!

My advice to you is not to inquire why or whither, but just enjoy your ice cream while it's on your plate. Thornton Wilder
You could stamp an index on clear acetate with StazOn and adhere that to the inside of the CD case (opposite the side you put your stamp on so there are no problems with the Acetate causing problems with the polymer).
What I usually do is just stamp (or photocopy) an index sheet on regular paper, and put that in the CD case.
I do the same as Michelle: stamp the set on a 4.75 x 4.75 inch square and slip it into the front of the case. You can see the front of such a case here:
Makes it easy to see the stamps in that case at a glance! I also stamp an index sheet for my binder at the same time so that I don't have to flip through the 12 or so bins looking for that one stamp that I'm wanting to use!
For those of you leaving your stamps on the acetate sheet you just might want to see if you can find out if the company approves it for storage.
I had a Christmas acrylic stamp set from a large stamp company that I bougut in the spring of the year. Come time to use the stamp at Christmas and the stamp was bascially welded into the acetate. The company said that the acetate sheet was not for storage purposes. they did replace the set but I was not to happy with the company.
