Question Help with photographing my cards!

Hello Splitcoasters!

I need your assistance! I have recently started to get back into stamping and am trying my hand at the challenges. I would like to upload my cards to the site for your viewing pleasure but can not, for the life of me, take a decent picture of my cards.

I've had problems with this for a while - I'd try to take pictures of other people's work for inspiration but the picture never came out! Either the auto flash washes out the picture or it isn't in focus... and I certainly can't make it look as professional as all of you do! How do you get that look?

I bought myself one of the little stands that everyone seems to use to display their card so I'm on my way to beautiful pictures but now I need the details! Can you help?

What setting do you have your camera on? Flash? No flash? What editing program are you using to get that shaded, frame look? And that really cool signature that everyone puts on their original work.... I want that!

If you could help me out, I would REALLY appreciate it! I know it's probably amazing to all of you that someone like me could exist in this digitally savvy world and I admit, I'm embarrassed...

Thanks in advance for your time and assistance!

Have a great week!

Sincerely,
Digitally Challenged ;)

Congrats on playing the challenges and starting your gallery! Please don't be embarrassed! We'd love to see your work!

Two tips that will probably take care of your problems:

1. Turn off your flash & try to take your photos in natural light. It's way better that way!

2. Turn your camera to Macro mode. This is the one with the little tulip icon. It enables you to focus on close-up items.

Here's a great tutorial and some info to start you out: http://stampinkub.com/tutorials/tips/photo_1

Shannan,
Thanks so much for your helpful advice! I'm going to give it a try!
Apparently, I'm not the only one with questions about how to take pictures of my cards... This posting has had 53 views but you are the only one that responded so thank you, again, for taking the time to share your thoughts! You probably helped many people other than just me.
Have a great day!

I have the same problem too.
My colours never come out right.
I would be interested in replies also.

This is a great, low cost "studio" to make (and with foam core board 1/2 off at Hobby Lobby, it costs $1!). Forums at Splitcoaststampers

I say lots of light (I bring in a floor light from another room), back off a bit, zoom in, and use your flash. I didn't have any good place that had lots of natural light, so this worked ok for me.

I agree with the above responses. I too use the macro setting on my digital camera with the tulip icon and I try to use natural lighting if at possible. Otherwise I just use my overhead fluorescent lighting. HTH! OH! and Big Lots sells these little baby tripods....their red in color. They screw right in to the bottom of my camera are so cute! LOL It looks similar to this one only in red and it has extendable legs on it as well. they work as well. ;)
