Hi everyone, i wanted to ask a favour..... I am currently making samples for a UK launch of Stamps soon on shopping channels in America and then Canada, im in the uk. And you are the first place i thought to ask.
Now.. could i please ask you to say what favourite card size you use and any favourite colours at the mo, as i have been told the States like 6x4, as in the UK we like larger sizes such as 8x8 and A5 or even A4 which is like your full scap i believe. Also when you scrapbook do you use 12x12 or smaller?
Thankyou soo much for your help in advance.xxxx
The A2 card is the most common size used in North America. It's 4.25" x 5.5". Square cards are also quite popular but there is no standard size although 5" square is what I always use for card bases. HTH and good luck!!
I always make my cards 4.25x5.5. I never make 4x6. Probably because the bulk of my cs is 8.5x11. I tend to like earth tones and softer colors. I use quite a bit of green, in the moss and sage tones, also softer shades of brown. Quite a few of my cards have some shade of pink too.
For scrapbooking it kind of depends. I do both. I prefer the 8x8 because it's a little cheaper and less work. Guess I'm getting lazy! HTH
Definitely 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" for the A2 card size...because our cardstock is 8 1/2 x 11" and the envelopes that fit that size are called invitation size and are available at Staples or a printer. Most of the embossing folders available in Canada fit this size and is a good size for mailing. Good luck with your samples. Hope we see them soon.
Most of the cards I've been making recently are 5.25 inch square. The reason why this square size is because the square envelopes I get are 5.5 inches and 5.25 inch cards fit perfectly.
My favorite colors right now are dark brown, turquoise, a nice pink but not too bright, soft yellow, olive green, earthy orange...
...even A4 which is like your full scap i believe.
Don't forget the US "letter size" paper is slightly different than our A4. The North American "A2" card is half a letter sheet folded in half which gives you the 4.25" x 5.5" that people have been mentioning on this thread. Half an A4 sheet folded will not give you the same size - it's slightly taller and slightly slimmer so if proportions are going to be important for how stamps look on your samples then you'll need to trim out to the right size (and you won't get two American A2 cards out of one of our A4 sheets because the width doesn't work out).
Looking at American Magazines like PaperCrafts and Cards, I would say that square format is quite popular - mostly they seem to be 5x5 or 5.25x5.25. You might be able to get those publications if you're interested in seeing first hand. Cards is republished here in the UK by Redline Publications and I understand that some bigger branches of WH Smith carry it. Likewise, you may find PaperCrafts in places like that.
Thankyou so much for your help, you've all been great! Glad i asked as was wrong being told 6x4, unfortunately i havent had much notice to go and research the sizes, so you have been so kind helping me out. They've got to go to the courier this tuesday for the week after, so a very short time frame, but i dont mind, glad to have oppourtunity to do them!! Thankyou for your best wishes!!.xxx
