I am new to stamping and finally have some money to buy some stamps. There is so much out there that I am kind of overwhelmed with what to get.
What companies/stamps from those companies do you like???? I would like images that I can color with copic markers. I am jumping on the band wagon like so many out there! LOL
I LOVE copics too! Some great companies for coloring include: Penny Black, Stamping Bella, Hanna Stamps, House Mouse Designs, Ann-ticipations, My Favorite Things and Little Paper Shop. Another good way to go about purchasing stamps is to look for mounted stamps that have a colored sticker cover, this way you can see the artist's vision of how to shade it.
If you need ideas on working with your copics google 'copic tutorials'. There are a lot out there (I have some on my blog as well).
There are lots of great companies out there. My two favorite companies right now are Stampin' UP! (SU) and Close to my heart (CTMH). Both places you have to order from demonstrators, but you can go to each of their websites and there is a "demonstrator locator" and put in your zip or addy, and it pops up with demos near to you. They can contact you, or you can contact them. Then join their stamp clubs if they have them. You spend a monthly amount and order supplies as you need.
One of the cool things about SU is that their inks, markers, and papers all match.
CTMH sells clear stamps with acrylic blocks. (They too sell inks, markers, and papers that match)
I personally like SU designs better, but like CTMH because it is more scrapbooking related. Both companies have an online catalog as well. I am happy with both companies. Recently reading the forums here also helps. I just discovered the world of The Angel Company (TAC) and Verve, and PaperTrey Ink, and Inque Botique... Good luck and happy hunting!
The best way to get more for your money is to stick to un-mounted stamps as they are alot cheaper.
I have a few favourite companies:
I Brake for Stamps - love their humorous seniors range
Catslife press - they do some great seal stamps
Third Coast Stamps - A great alrounder and they have something for everyones tastes, the wildlife ones which are quite new are so cute.
A lota rubber - some really cute images
Magnolia - I love these as they are great for colouring in
With being in the UK i am sure there are a load of stamps companies out there that i haven't discovered yet but god help me when i do as i go a bit mad with the spending once i do.
As for copics, i don't own these yet but REALLY want some, they are too expensive to buy from the UK but keeping an eye out for a great deal in the US (i've seen a few but not from companies that will ship to the UK).
My most used Copic Colors are:
E00 Skin White
B000 Pale Porcelain Blue
R85 Rose Red
R83 Rose Mist
R81 Rose Pink
YG95 Pale Olive
YG93 Grayish Yellow
E37 Sepia
E35 Chamois
E33 Sand
C1 Cool Gray 1
C3 Cool Gray 3
C5 Cool Gray 5
Y11 Pale Yellow
Also, I learned a TON from Debbie Olsen's blog, Thinking Inking. She has great step by step tutorials, and her favorite Copic combos are on the sidebar.
I got introduced to stamping through SU. I have a lot of SU stamps but I also have a lot that I have picked up from Hobby Lobby and Michael's. I know there are a lot more "experienced" stamper out here who can give you better advise. But I have always been very happy with the SU products!
If you like cute, funny images, Hambo Stamps are great. Also, though I don't own any (yet!), Paper Pretties has some sweet images. Stampendous has Changito the Monkey, Fluffles the cat, and the line of bee stamps that are good for coloring.

Elyssa already mentioned my absolute favorite: www.stampingbella.com. Em's stamps are deeply etched and are unmounted - a plus to me because I don't have much room. Besides the Bellas, Em is constantly adding images to her website.
HTH, I enjoy checking out all the stamp web sites that are mentioned!

Hi, and welcome to our addiction, I mean our hobby! I appreciate reading all the details everyone has provided above. But, really, for a newbie without a stamping friend, you gotta seriously consider Stampin' UP. Here's why.
SU has everything you need as a beginner and an advanced stamper to make awesome cards. They sell not only the stamps, but wonderful card stock, ink, ribbons and other embellishments that match! No waste of time trying to coordinate your look, it's already done for you. You can create something wonderful from the start. I am so happy I was introduced to SU at the beginning. Best of luck, have fun, and we will watch for some cards from you.
I buy See D's stamps (inque boutique) because the prices are really good!
Also Stampin' Up Stamps (bought so many I decided to sign up as a demo!)
Be sure to buy embelishments and papers too! When I first started I was so In love with the stamp sets and went crazy buying them that when I finally sat down to use them I couldn't make anything look nice because I didn't have the extra's!!
Happy Shopping! There'e so many compnies out there with very different styles!
My faves are Magnolia, Sugar Nellies range, High Hopes Rubber Stamps, Hanglar and Stanglar (soon available from Funky Kits)
These haven't been mentioned yet so I'm listing them
The Sugar Nellie stamps, Maggie and Hamish, Sweet Ebony stamps (Elizabeth Bell), Little Cotton Rabbits.
Rachelle Anne Miller stamps
Pink Cats Studio (lovin the Lily and Billy stamps)
Elzybells stamps (UK ones bigger images)
Sarah Kay stamps

I wholeheartedly agree!! SU gets you started in the right direction with high-quality everything!! I think I would have been lost with all the possibilities if I hadn't started with Stampin' Up. The cardstock and the coordinating papers and embellishments will let you see what you really like the most and you know that you will be working with really well-made products.

I totally agree. Unfortunately I'd never heard of SU when I started out, so by the time I found SU I had a bunch of craft store junk to throw/give away;). Everything SU sells is great quality!
Hmm...I love Stampendous, Stamping Bella, and justjohanna! All fun to color! And let me just suggest not to start with the brightest colors of Copics! They caught my eye, so I went with the bright colors first, and then I found that they were too much for everyday coloring. Go for more muted tones first!
