Default Help with Embellishments!

Hi Everyone!

I need your help with some ideas for embellishments. I guess I'm pretty scared in trying to add some. I've only done eyelets and would like some more ideas. I've been browsing through the swaps index and some of the hostesses ask for embellishments in making the projects. Do any of you have particular favorites? Hope this post makes sense! Thanks!

Merry Christmas Rachel!

I like adding ribbon in a bow. I also add metallic cording, wrapped around the focal point three times, taped to the back, or tied around the fold of the card. Brads are a nice alternative to eyelets. Buttons are great for more casual cards. Charms that fit the theme. It's amazing what you start collecting!

I love ribbon! I have so many colors and textures, yet I always need a trip to the store to get just the right one. I do have some SU ribbon but I have also found Walmart to have a good selection. My next favorite is brads. I just wish I had a long handled punch or an anywhere punch so I am not so limited on where I put them. Don't be scared of embellishments!

I mostly use to use ribbon, but i've gotten on a Dazzling Diamonds and Crystal Effects kick! Crystal Effects can make a lot of things "pop" on your crafts and the Dazzling Diamonds, well, those just speak for themselves! Really really easy to add also and what a difference they make also!

Thanks for your input! I'm going to try to expand myself into incorporating more embellishments into my stamping projects. Thanks so much! Happy Holidays!

I use my eyelet tool to make holes where I want them when a punch doesn't work.

I also like to use PE as embellishment
Hope this helps
Merry Christmas to all

Anything sharp should be good to make a hole for a brad - I have used mechanical pencil tips, the end of our Snips, a big needle like the one you would use for sewing knitted pieces together. Just be sure to put something "safe" behind the project to catch the point coming through. And then, think about the tool kit - it is wonderful. Plus the pliers can be used to form your own wire embellishments ...

I'm not sure if embossing is considered an embellishment but I love doing that. Glitter is always good. I just got the DD and Red and use them all the time. I think I just may need them all. Cord, brads, and ribbon are always great too. I love the grosgrain ribbon the best cause due to a skin condition on my hands I'm not able to make the organdy ribbon look nice at all so I can just tie a knot in the grosgrain and it looks great.

Fiber. Beads. Brads. Love them all--either seperate or in a mix. Just play around and you will find something you love. Gina

I'm guilty of trying all different kinds of ribbon in addition to SU! ribbons. I love to emboss, I love using tags (plain and metal edge), raffia and hemp twine are nice, and my favorite is crimped paper.
Brads are great too!
