Default Headline Alphabet - question

I'm consideing buying the Headline Alphabet for scrapbooking. Is the stamp clear or does it come out "blotchy". Some of the samples I have seen don't seem real crisp. Opinions?

Sometimes on the more solid stamps, there is a residue on the surface of the stamp from the release agent in the stamp mold. It repels ink so you get that blotchy look. All you need to do is to lightly sand it with a sanding block or rub it with a pencil eraser can do it to. It gets rid of that residue and makes it stamp very well.

In response to Jan's response, what I do is clean my new stamps with stampin mist and the scrubber before I use them the first time. That seems to do the trick, too! You can also rub them on your jeans, and that helps... Lots of ways to get that residue off!
I have also found that if you ink up with a marker rather than an ink pad, you will get a very bright, crisp image!!! Try it!
Hugs,
Diane

Default sanding

I also sand mine lightly with a sanding block (from SU). It makes the image very crisp.

Default I have found...

That my images are *VERY* crisp. And I just *LOVE* this set!!! Love the size, love the versatility, love the look!

On the other hand...*not* all that crazy 'bout Letterpress. Just not using it anywhere near as much as I thought I would.

And before each use, I clean all of my images with clear water/Stampin' Scrub, then Stampin' Mist/Stampin' Scrub. Just helps. ~ J

I agree with what all the others have said, but it also depends on the ink you use! Large surface area stamps like those tend to be bolder, brighter, and more crisp if you use the chalk ot craft inks.
