When I told my 13-year-old daughter she nearly fell out of her chair laughing. I think her exact words were "Paris Hilton doesn't even feed her own dog. Make her own scrapbook? That's hilarious!"
Check out the video on the above link. It's obvious she (Paris) hasn't a clue what she's talking about. But if it gets a new generation excited about crafting, then I'm all for it.
I was at CHA and it was pretty much a running joke with everyone I talked with regarding her foray into crafting. One of her "tweens" paper products (that's her self-proclaimed target market) was a girl in silhouette a la trucker flap playboy style with a martini glass in her hand. Since when is a "tween" imbibing a martini? Her line hasn't been picked up by any US distributors last I heard, although you can get it in Canada and across the pond. I thought THAT was pretty telling...

Maybe there is something about jail that makes one ponder one's way in life? Ya know, since Martha and now Paris have joined our elite ranks after jail time. I don't believe that, but maybe someone does! I really don't think that either is very appealing, but to each his own. I do highly disagree with the martini glass thing. Tweens have enough to deal with these days and not enough normal people to look up to. Ok, stepping down from my soapbox now!

Yeah I laughed pretty hard when I found out about her "line" - personally I won't buy anything she "markets" - and I checked out her CHA release and the videos and whatnot and she really had no clue what she was talking about.
Martha on the other hand *might* (I don't know for sure) have little to do with her line (in terms of design and whatnot) but with her team and attention to detail they are pretty fabulous and good quality and I LOVE her products. Paris should take a page out of her book and try a little harder......now THAT seems rather far-fetched - wonder why??
The My Favorite Things booth was right across the aisle from Paris's so we had a birdseye view of the craziness! It really was a nightmare because security wasn't prepared for the crowd and people were just unbelievably RUDE!!
As for her line.... I didn't see many people in her booth placing orders so I'd be really surprised to see it anywhere. I attached a couple pictures of the crowd that I snapped standing on a chair in the MFT booth.
Someone at the show said she announced that she was going to "Bring the class back to scrapbooking"...that cracked me up!
LOL.....I watched the video of her arriving at her booth and to me it looked like she was seeing all the products for the first time - and she definitely didn't make any of it (that was painfully obvious). I would be willing to give her a little more cred if she actually appeared to have put more thought and attention into it all. But overall it was just a mess IMO!!
I heard that her line was priced outrageously, too. Marketed to tweens at fortysomeodd dollars for a scrapbook?? Um, hello? Does the word recession mean anything to her? lol

I thought it was bad when Martha got into scrapbooking, now Paris, LOL think that is the chuckle of the day! Our LSS has already said she was going to pass on it also. Since I have four granddaughters and three of them love stamping and scraping, I can't for the life of me figure out what Paris would have that would interest them.
My LSS owner already said that she'll be taking a pass on this line LOL
mine too!

Does anyone take Paris Hilton seriously?! I don't get all the fuss over her or her new scrapbooking line. What tween-ager can afford a $49.00 scrapbook in the first place? And how can anyone even think of marketing a line that promotes drinking alcohol to a pre-teen? Her parents must be so proud! (NOT!) I'll pass on all things Paris!
Wow, after watching the video - I feel kind of bad for her! Her "people" should have prepared her better! LOL! She had to ask someone how long it took to make that bracelet she was wearing! Kind of sad if you ask me!

What has this world come to?!! Paris and scrapbooking should not even be mentioned in the same sentence! Sounds like she's just in it to make a buck-she clearly doesn't have a clue! The only thing she could say about scrapbooking was that it was "hot" and "cool". What?????
I think it's funny because in the videos she looks like she's seeing her line for the first time. Although don't totally bash her, she *might* scrapbook... I read that she made crafts to pass the time in jail! (seriously!) As for her line, it's even way too much pink for me just on the packaging! Seems very teeny-bopper - I guess that is the target market - but looks like it should be sold in Claire's or Limited Too, not Michael's or an LSS. Like the others, I'll pass.
Someone at the show said she announced that she was going to "Bring the class back to scrapbooking"...that cracked me up!
...seems like i remember martha saying something along those lines when her line was released...i didn't realize we such a low-class bunch... ...watched the video...her "posing" for pics with her scrapbook reminded me of a saturday night live skit...
Well I'll pass for me too, but, excepting the drinking themed kit, I think she could have a market in the tween audience. Not OUR kids of course, as all our kids are around top quailty art materials and would scoff at that level of branding I'm sure, but OTHER PEOPLE's kids. *nods* yup, other people's kids might buy it.
Kids have an insane amount of spending money. Maybe not that much, but a lot. I'm amazed by crap kids can afford. If they can buy those expensive Wii games they can buy a $40 scrapbook kit.

Yep - and all she could say was "its fun and its art" I think it was the first time I saw anyone "model" a scrap book. And an empty one at that.
Boy...I feel sorry for the investors in that business! Can you imagine what they had to pay to use her name and have her do an appearance only to have it major flop!?!?!?!!!

I'm just curious....what do you mean by this? That Americans wouldn't buy her stuff because you all have so much class but that those of us in Canada or across the pond don't? That's how that last sentence comes across. I certainly hope you didn't mean that!

yep the video was painful to watch......it is obvious that she doesn't scrapbook nor probably have the time to anyway......when asked what her favorite thing about scrapbooking is..........her answer was her typical line of bs commercial answer....not a real scrapbookers answers
it's fashionable? it's hot? ............um yah paris we really believe your a scrapbooker.
Just come out and say your not, don't try to fool us. Your product doesn't need your face on either.

Seriously I haven't watched the videos - but I wouldn't buy her line - not because she has her name on the line - but from what I read about it - it is not something I think I would be interested in but than again I said I would NEVER buy any Martha Stewart stuff and I have bought a couple punches and some of the Christmas line - but I will only purchase if on clearance or I have a 50% off coupon..........the reason - Martha makes it seem like SHE invented the product....no - the company who does make the product agreed to put her name on it! I am just not a fan of MS - I don't like her know it all attitude - so I don't feel I should spend my hard earned $$$ on her products.........
I have passed by this thread a few times because the first thought I had was "And I care because...?" (in other words - who cares?!)
But I had to read the responses and so here I am chiming in, for what it's worth. I would probably be one who would purposely *not* buy anything from her line, simply because of who she is - who she is portrayed as being - her behavior etc...

Oh, you're not the only one who will pass simply to avoid adding more prosperity to her foolishness. She's definitely not any kind of role model for ANYONE young or old, and trying to break into something "wholesome" like scrapbooking is just a cheap way to try to revitalize her stained reputation and the fact that she's become quite boring lately and no one really cares anymore what she does. That little girl has never scrapbooked a page in her life and probably thinks the scissors are too heavy to do it anyway...yea, i'll pass too...
