Stampin Up stamps are my favorite, but Fred B. Mullett nature stamps look very interesting - has anybody used them?
Nobody sells them near me, so I'd have to buy them online & would like to hear from people who've tried them before I buy them.
For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, here's a link to the site. He doesn't sell from his site, so there isn't a catalog online, but click on any of the pictures to see some really cool stamped art!
I really like Fred B. Mullett stamps and still have one of the Red Pearl stamps sold at a show. I met Fred once, again long ago at a show. He is a superb artist and quite a character, too as one of our members has already mentioned.
I saw one Fred B. Mullett stamp on Frantic Stamper, Inc. I think it was called Wild Grass.

Thanks for the responses. The stamp I was after is a maidenhair fern. I think I remember it being available in different sizes...but his website shows no availability to purchase stamps.
The original post in this thread is from 2004, and the last catalog on his site is from 2015, so my guess is that you'll need to be looking for that stamp secondhand.
Oops, this is an old post. I should have checked it before I replied.
Wegret, I don't know where you could get the maidenhair stamp. Here is a maidenhair stencil if you are interested: DesignsbyRyn. I have it and love it.

Thanks for all the replies. The maidenhair stencil is beautiful. I might have to go for that one, but would be interesting to know where Fred Mullett's inventory actually went?? Perhaps someone knows where his gorgeous, multi sized rubber stamps are located.
I still have one of his catalogs that shows his famous fish and nature stamps, many of which were available in 3 sizes (brilliant idea, I thought). So those who liked making the A2 sized cards, A7 cards, scrapbook page makers, and mixed media artists could all be happy.
I clicked on the stencil link to see what maidenhair fern looks like. There is a new Stampin' Up set in the spring/mini/Jan-June catalog that has a stamp that looks like that image.
Apologies for bumping a twice ancient post, but this was the first hit on Google, and thought fans if his would be interested in this.
I'm a family member of Fred's, and was able to have his collection of etched magnesium plates and bakelite molds after helping him clean out the garage.
I'm planning on selling them as art for framing or whatever, but thought I'd see if there were any fans of his who might be interested in buying some.
I have over a hundred of them. I tried to post an imgur album of three, or attach pictures, but my account is too new. I'll post some as soon as the site will allow me.
I have put the first one up for sale on eBay if you want to take a look. Just search Fred B Mullett. I think I only need three posts to post images, and this is my third, so maybe the next post it will let me.
I have no idea what to sell them for. I started the eBay auction at $50 and hope to see what the demand is. What do you think something like this would go for? If you have any input let me know once you see the pics.
Fred's stamps are superb. They give a totally natural impression. I have seen a variety of his stamps for sale on ebay, so whoever is looking might try there. I regret that I did not take more classes with him and that he did not put more up on Youtube. If anyone is in contact with Fred, please ask him to teach some classes. He is a wonderful teacher and a total character.
BTW did he copyright/trademark these images? Because I think? one could take those plates and make stamps with them as he did and sell them? Is he cool with that? They might not use them just for mounted wall art.

This seems so sad that Fred's stamp line would end up on ebay. Yes, i do think that if someone is making stamps to sell from these plates that they will need his consent as it is his original artwork. Might there be a stamp company that wants to take over this line and sell it as others have done in the past?
I have quite a few of Fred Mullett stamps---fish, leaves, grasses etc. I have taken classes from him and use two or three of his techniques over and over. One is to "ink" the image with bleach (using a "stamp pad" made of a paper towel) and stamp it over and over without re-inking---usually on black cardstock. Then coloring the same image with markers and spritzing, stamp over the first bleach Image. This process can be done without the bleach step and repeat the colored image over and over with out re-inking, but lightly spritzing each time, if desired. another one I like is to "paint" with embossing powder and is a bit more involved that I can go into here, but basically you stamp with Versamark or other clear embossing ink and sprinkle on different embossing powders, He had us use transparent colors for this, which is the only time I've ever seen them used specifically.
Ahhh, t'was fun to read through these posts re Fish Man himself. Fred is a character. We hosted him here in our home in OR years ago when he was here to teach classes at several of the local stamp stores. I, too, have taken classes from him and I agree with Jeanne's post above--those are a couple of his "tried and true" techniques. Another note re "painting" with embossing powder: Fred encouraged folks to save the leftover embossing powder. The "mix" makes for wonderful, OOAK color.
Fred's images, along with Kevin Nakagawa's StampScape stamps take up an entire cabinet in my studio. Both of these gentlemen have produced some of the best images ever.
RaniM,
It was in Medford, OR that I took classes from Fred Mullett at a great store called Stamp Struck. We lived in Southern Oregon for 45 years before we moved to AZ. Been here 10years. Don't miss the snow, but I do miss the trees.

Ahhh, yes, I remember the store, Jeanne. I live in Silverton, east of Salem. I have taught/worked at several stamp stores here in the valley, including Embossing Arts, I Remember When, and Stampin' Cat Studio.
You didn't happen to know someone named Lori Warner in Medford, did you? She was a stamper/scrapbooker, although I think she has since found other interests.
Yes, we're looking at relocation options as well. I'm originally from northern WI. We've been looking at MN...I'm just not certain yet if I want to brave the cold (I've been here in the Willamette Valley since the mid 90's).
I lived on the other side of the Cascades on 5 acres near an unincorporated city called Keno about 20 miles outside of Klamath Falls, so I did not knowLori Warner since I didn't live in Medford. We moved here because we got tired of shoveling and snow blowing for so many months of the year. The weather is just right here since we are in the high desert (4600') with the beautiful Huachuca Mountains for our view. We get as low as 20 degrees during our short winter with some weeks of snow that melts off the roads quite quickly. the summers are not nearly as hot as Phoenix or even Tucson. The best part is our stamping club. We have 47 members right now. We meet once a month for a business meeting, swaps, demos, training and a make and take. We also have several outside activities---Dine N Swap and Technique Tuesday. Check us out on Facebook: Huachuca Mountain Stamping Club.
I found this website of Fred's still online. It has several interesting "pages" including info about his techniques, pictures of artwork and details, contact info (PO mailing address, email, etc. https://www.fredbmullett.com/index_stamps.htm
I got a box of pressed rubber from Fred and I'm selling assorted grab bags of his stamps on eBay. They are unmounted and may require some trimming. The box I have is mostly plants, but there are some fish.
