I especially struggled with cards for male kids/tweens and teens/young men. I bought some of the $5 sets from PTI geared for males from the Boy Basics group - Rock On, Game On and Skater Dude, also got the inexpensive die to go with the Rock on and the Skater Dude. In a few short months, I have used these a ton -my son's friend's bdays, thank you cards for my son's bday party, a gift card holder for my 16 yr old nephew, etc. I was skeptical because I am more a rubber stamper than an acrylic stamper but couldn't find anything similar anywhere else. see them here - Papertrey Ink - Masculine Stamp Sets
any ideas for masculine cards that are single layers and no embellishments? Need some ideas for a card ministry for men in prison, but they can not have layers or things glued on or even embossing unless it is the dry embossing plates.
Dollyw,
how about this without the string and other little adjustments, caught my eye last night when I was browsing...

I usually don't have much trouble with guy cards---trees, leaves, ferns, transportation (ships, trains, cars, etc), lighthouses, windmills, horses or anything western (around here that also works for women and girls!), fish, stars, etc. However, I have the most trouble with teens---both guys and gals---as I really don't know what they are into and doubt I have any stamps for that anyway. I'm not big into buying stamps to use for a short time, so who has a suggestion to use common stamps in a way that teens would like? Sorry to hijack this thread, but it's been on my mind with a new year of cards to begin working on that includes a few teens.

The good thing about "teens" generically is that you can use Text language, phones and can make ipods/mp3 players without too much trouble and no investment.
The bad thing about teens is that if they are NOT into something they really are NOT into it, such as certain colors, musical artists etc.

Thanks for the suggestions for "teen" cards. Some of the teens I make cards for are into sports (don't have those stamps either), but really think they are not picky about what is on their card. I like the idea of using text. Then use some shapes and "in colors". Digitals are not an option for me. Guess I'm a stamping purist as I like my images to actually be stamped.
I know a lot of people like digi's, but to me stamping involves a stamp! No offence intended to anyone, by the way, because there are some truly gorgeous cards made using them- and some peoples use of colour blows me away.I will never be that good. I just think it shouldn't be called stamping.
Agreed. It is definitely art (some of the cards done with it are breath-taking), but not stamping. Why not call it Digi Art?
To help with some inspiration for teens/boys (or girls) that are into music, just click on "Gallery" from the top RH menu on the SCS website, then at the far left where you see the heading "In the Gallery", select the 5th one down which is "Search" and type in the keyword "guitar". Then you will bring up lots and lots of awesome cards that feature guitars. I just did this as I need to make a card for my nephew who is a musician and found so much inspiration in the search results.
So have a play and try different search words such as mobile phone, computer, car, ship - even Elvis brings up lots of results.
I also just did a search typing in the keyword "90th" as I need to make a masculine 90th birthday (eekkk - ohhhh, help!), and thankfully, brought up lots of cards for inspiration. Trying to think of what to do for such an occasion was doing my head in but now I have some great ideas!
Thanks JoBear2! Wow, that's great. I don't have a guitar stamp, but I can carve a simple one and I do have some musical notes. Super idea---I don't even have to know the name of their favorite group or performer---brilliant!
I have problems creating guy cards too. I did a bunch last year and haven't really had to do anymore since (except for my hubby - and he loves anything I do even if I think its ugly ). Here are some of my card - all digi images by the way (I'm don't share the opinions about digi stamps posted earlier, but I'm not here to debate it). Most of them are actually free colouring pages I downloaded and scaled down to use on my cards.

GREAT cards cat_woman.You have "the knack" for masculine cards - and I love that you used digi images - there are some fabulous ones out there which are perfect for masculine cards.
Thank you all. I really struggle with them, so I try to use a simple layout and not too many colours in the mix. Like I said to hubby, I keep them simple because they're for a man after all and they're simple, right?
