At Christmas dinner with family (where everyone in attendance got one of my cards - Gallery at Splitcoaststampers ) someone commented on how nice my card was. (yippee!) Another family member stated that she had been doing a lot of work designing and printing with her computer, too. I stated my card was not designed or printed on the computer but was handstamped, embossed, attached with brads, a clip and ribbon etc. etc. (and with a "handstamped by ..." stamp on the back!) Was she really remembering my card??? She was nearly arguing with me that she was sure it was done on the computer! Some people just don't get it, do they???
Some people have a hard time admitting it when they are wrong. She is obviously wrong there is no way this could have been done on the computer. Good work!
I quickly move these folks to the store-bought card (the box I get for $1 at 90% off in February). If they ask why didn't they get a hand-made card (which they won't because they don't care), I simply state, "Didn't you? Oh---------I just couldn't make all of them..........................."
(Of course, their are reasons they didn't get one..............)
If they don't appreciate it, why take the time and effort?
(This includes immediate family------my Dad's wife is top of my list for a
clearance, store-bought card).
Great card, jtx. And look you have 878 views already. Thanks for posting.

People who don't stamp or aren't otherwise crafty just have no idea how talented we are. I'd take her "insistence" as a compliment to your stamping prowess! It's a great card.
Even after you told her it wasn't done on the computer, she still said that it was??? What did she think... that you were lying?? What a nutjob! Anyway, your card is gorgeous!

Ask her to send you a computer generated one with a layer of dry embossing, a layer of heat embossing, etc.
People don't understand hand created cards. It can be frustrating!!
I agree with the "give the cheap bought one" idea (and, I religiously get a store bought card for my SIL because I don't need to spend any time doing ANYTHING for her!).
I would LOVE to have a printer that printed out brads, did embossing and printed out REAL ribbons! snort!
Ask her if you can come over to her place sometime so she can show you how her printer does these things. haha!
Some people.........like my dad always says, "There are some people in this world that make things happen. There are others that watch things happen. And then there are people that just wonder what happened."

LOL! THAT is just what I was going to say. Don't let her get to you~ she isn't worth it!
That card is GORGEOUS! It's cards like yours that make me think I really DO need a Cuttlebug....
Just pee in her tea next time ya see her. <kidding!> I'll double, triple ditto the "she gets the clearance card next year". I have some real ugly ones - I'll send one to you. ;)
Don't let this person get to you...some people can be so pigheaded! I think your card is AMAZING! It's so beautiful that I had ALREADY commented on it, saved it to my favorites, and sent it as an ecard to my sister...AND you have me thinking of getting a Cuttlebug! Now I'm off to go look at some more cards in your gallery because you are so talented!

Well, I know computer generated cards are not quite the same as hand-made ones, but some poeple do put a lot of time and effort into designing them and maybe in their minds they're doing something similar (even though we know its nothing of the sort).
However, it's one thing for her to compare her computer "art" to yours, it's quite another for her to insist that your gorgeous and obviously hand-stamped card was computer generated. You definitely need to get a store-bought card for her next year.
Wow, I wish you would teach me how to do that on my computer!
Seriously, your card is lovely! I really hadn't thought that I wanted a Cuttlebug, but I keep seeing these amazing embossed creations, and I think it's time to sell the light box and invest in a Cuttlebug.
I checked out your card and it is just beautiful!! She couldn't have REALLY looked at it or READ it. If she did she must have misunderstood the meaning of PEACE. I agree with a clearance card next year.
Your card is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I'm with everyone else who is saying, yeah, show me a computer that does that! You're right though, some people just don't get it... how about this though, I sent one to my aunt and uncle who have family members on the other side of the family (not mine) who are stampers and they went over their house and argued with them that I did not make my card! They said, "Well look at the back, it has a stamp that says art by me" and the ladies said "There is no way she stamped that." Give me a break, they're freaking stampers!!!!
Now see that cracks me up, how on earth would you create something that beautiful on a blinking computer, silly woman - definitely a cheap 10cents card next year then!!!!! hehehe
Concentrate on the joy of making, and giving. The receiving part is her job, she just did it poorly. Don't let that affect you. I make the cards because I love doing it. I don't really care if people don't even give it a second glance.
Your post reminded me of the time my MIL asked me what computer program I used to make my cards, and I still shake my head in confusion over that one. However, she did believe me when I told her I did it w/ stamps, and I think I gained some respect from her (finally).
Sounds to me like she was feeling a little defensive. Maybe you should invite her over to do some stamping.
I have a sister in law that likes to disagree - it's like a sport with her. Once, after seeing my newly stamped bathroom walls, she comented on the nice stenciling job I did. I told her they were stamped and she corrected me to stenciled again. That's when I realized that she was never going to listen anyway and why waste my efforts - I don't have to live with her, and I have better things to do with my time.
That's my mantra with splenetic relatives; at least I don't have to live with them!

I've had people say that to me, also. "I make cards on the computer, too". I just say, "That's nice, but I don't use the computer". If they ask, I give details, otherwise, it's a waste of breath. Your card is beautiful. I'm certain that most of the people who were lucky enough to get one appreciated the time, talent and effort.

That is an absolutely fabulous card! I can see how much work you put into it. I would definitely go out to one of the discount stores and pick up the cheapest, ugliest card you can find and save it for her for next year. OR, if you want to turn the other cheek, ask her to show you how to emboss and print ribbons and brads on a computer, and then show her how you made your card. However, I don't think I would bother with option 2 - some people just don't care or understand. Good luck!
Your card is beautiful! Sorry to hear that your family member did not appreciate your card and was rude about it. I agree, some people do not get it and the ones that I know who don't appreciate my cards get cards that have very little effort put into them. The others who appreciate them get the cards made with the awesome card making printer.
ajm, You just taught me a new word--"splenetic." I looked it up. It is PERFECT to describe bad-tempered people. I LOVE to learn new words. Thanks!
For the OP--As for the insistence that the card was made with a computer---tell her she is absolutely right! Tell her you designed the software yourself and are planning to market it and "offer" her the opportunity to put a $50 downpayment on it RIGHT NOW for one of the first copies.
LOL ---that's why I make a "naughty & nice" list for Xmas cards. Nice people get well loved, handcrafted cards, & the naughty people get........something else

Beautiful card!!
Yes-beautiful card and I like the Naughty and Nice list. Many years ago, I offered to bring a thank you in to work for someone my department wanted to thank. My boss said "no, storebought are better" She NEVER has gotten one of my GOOD cards.
Dontcha just want to kick somepeople sometimes! People like your relative and those who tell me I must have a lot of time on my hands go on the "store-bought" list.

I love it great idea - There is always one in every crowd... give them the card they deserve....

Beautiful card!!
I am off to modify my Christmas card list!! Love this idea. I have a SIL, who for some reason has decided that my Husband and I are not "worthy" of her Brag letter with her Christmas card, so I told my Husband lets see how she feels when she keeps getting the same store bought card until my box is emptied!! Oh, I can't wait for Christmas for next year as I will have less cards to make.
BTW: BEAUTIFUL Card!! I am going to ask for a new printer that embosses/stamps.....! TFS
It is a beautiful card and I would say she has no clue on what thought and time goes into a handmade card. Chalk it up to her being envious because she is not as skilled as you and could never make anything so beautiful.
Hugs and a Happy Healthy New Year to all.
