Hi, this is my first time posting . . . never really had a question before now . . . but, I'm looking for a nice grey ink pad and can't seem to find one. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Have you got a sample you could show us, Lynn? I've always found London Fog has a bit too much of a purplish tinge and I've been wondering about the Grey Flannel but not seen it on any projects yet.
I'm still disappointed that SU's Going Gray went out... I really liked that one...

I stamped the Memento Gray Flannel and London Fog side by side.
That's great, thank you Lynn. The Flannel looks nice - closer to the charcoal end of grey but not too dark. I may have to add that to my crafty shopping list!

Thats odd! I bought the London Fog as several people loved and recommended it but mine is a really ugly greenish grey color. I've wondered if mine was defective, anyone else get a greenish grey when they use that color.
My all time favorite grey is Clearsnap/Vivid's Cobblestone. Its a wonderful medium tone true grey but the pads they use for that line tend to tear, rip and crumble. Hence the reason I went out and bought the Momento's pad. Guess I'm still looking for "perfect grey" too.
INterestsing ...I don't have any greys in my collection yet... umm can you tell me what you would use it for? I use my black for outline stamping. Could you tell me what I need the greys for. Enlighten me please...!

I guess the strict answer that you don't need the greys if you've never thought of using one! Personally, I'll use grey or dark brown to stamp an outline image where I want a slightly softer effect than stamping in black. Similarly, brown or grey is good for stamping a more muted or vintage effect with solid images or line art that you don't plan to colour. Any time you might use a coloured ink, I guess but don't want an actual colour, if you see what I mean!
I didn't know I needed a grey but ordered a few from amuse studio when they had a recent sale - I got 3 different shades of grey! I haven't used all of them (yet!) but I love them for grounding an image and I found that an image stamped in grey is not as harsh as black and looks lovely. I've been grabbing it more often these days!!
I don't have any SU grey inks yet but I do have the two greys put out by CTMH. I like both Grey Wool and Grey Flannel and have use them both fairly often.

I just read that the two greys from CTMH that I mentioned are retiring at the end of July (along with 22 other colors). I wonder if there will be any other type of grey in their new palette.

Like some others have said, grey is softer and seems to dissappear once you have colored your image. Especially nice when doing scenic stamping.
