Yes ladies, it's worth the Drive! I got there at 9 this morning and left at 1:30! I had two very large bags of goodies to try and find places for in my home before my DH got home!!!! The only problem I did find, was that 3 of the ventors I went to see to buy things from, because I had shopped with them before, told me that they were having a problem getting all there things shipped in to them. All said they would have there merchanise by Saturday, but I'm not sure I can get back again!
Now what did I buy!!! I bought the Friskar 3 punches for eyelets. There were lots of companies showing them, but I thought they were a good deal. I bought some paper, Stamps by Judith (she was doing Demo's), more pp, buttons, brads, two packages of pre-cut scrapbook pages with all the other goodies that match. Those had Basic Grey papers. Little Black Dress that a nice display and I found several thing there. I also bought some Disney stuff, as there was alot of that. And did I mention I bought PP???
Well, you get the idea.
It's $5 to park, and since I didn't have a discount coupon, it was $9 to get in. I think some of the scrapbook stores have coupons, so you might want to call your LSS and check.
The make and takes were just ok. I've seen alot better, but it was ok.
I'm going tomorrow! This is my fourth or fifth year. I LOVE it! I went to one in San Diego a couple of years ago. This is soooooo much better- it's absolutely huge. The make and takes are free- in San Diego you had to pay. It is packed with vendors (and people). So bring your money, walking shoes, and patience because you do end up waiting in a lot of lines. Also, I recommend bringing address labels for all of the drawings you'll be entering!
There are lots of great deals and chances to see products demoed. One of my favorites is Judith from Stamps by Judith. I recommend the trip!
I am going tomorrow (Friday) and I tell you, I can hardly wait!!!
Paula, I am so bummed that you went today!! I want to meet the woman who has such fabulous taste in decorator paper!!! I will be on the look out for those Basic Grey papers! What is this Fiskers 3 eyelet punch you speak of?
If anyone is going tomorrow and will be reading this soon, PM me and maybe we can meet up! I will be the one with the stupid grin and practically jumping up and down with excitement!! We are going to try and get there early, 9-9:30ish.

Jackie, please post more details about today! Every year my sister and I say that we are going to attend, but something has always come up. She lives in that area so it would be easy for me to drive there & spend the weekend w/ her.
Maybe I should just start planning for next year's convention!!!
Melissa, PLAN YOUR TRIP NOW!!! I have really enjoyed this show for the past several years. The room was full of vendors and people (all pulling crop crates!) but since we had all day I was prepared to take my time. As I have said before, I don't scrap but every time I go there I get inspired. There are lots of FABULOUS papers and coordinating embellishments. The flyer listed tons of workshops that one could sign up for and IMHO eat your checkbook!! If you are a class taker and really would use the ideas then it would probably be worth it but I would rather buy stuff. I used great restraint this time and did not go bonkers on the paper, but the Basic Grey booth was wonderful and had all their cool lines and coordinates. Several booths had the Wild Asparagus line, cool and vintagey. I also am now the proud owner of 3 new Making Memories double sided alphabet foam sets!!! Upper and lower case on one stamp for the special low show price of $9.99 per set!!! WICKED! I almost caved and bought a set of walnut ink tintz daubers--the colors are yummy but I want the new SU pads more!!! Got a couple of canvas "scrapbook on the wall" kits-dang salespeople and their cute samples!!! Many of the booths have little make and takes, some charge $1-2 but it is fun and you get to sit for a few minutes. Oh, there was a booth, Michael Miller Designs(?) that had amazing fabric paper, tweed and other great textures but at $2.25+ a sheet, I had to pass. Their make and take was a sweet little paper purse and we embellished it with a fabric paper flower and when you heat the paper you can "mold" it to have dimension. Lots of sign ups to win prizes and I believe that someone had suggested having preprinted labels to put on the forms--that is a great idea!! Maybe next time! Of course, there was the normal stickers, eyelets, prepackaged layouts and things that you could find at your LSS.
Shows like this can create total sensory overload if you don't know what you want but they are also a lot of fun.
Melissa, I don't know if you are an SU purist but there is a rubber stamp convention in Arlington at the end of July. Lots of fun too!!! For some reason I thought that you lived closer to this area. If you have family close by you NEED to come!!!

Ugh! Now reading all this makes me feel worse for not going! I was so torn. Had a trip planned with 2 friends....decided against it. BUMMER! I LOVE Wild Asparagus and LOVE seeing all the new things. BUT...still haven't used a room full of new things that I have! Next year.....!
Jackie, thanks for the wonderful update! I'm going to talk to my sister so we can start making plans for next year.
I think it sounds like a little slice of Heaven on Earth. A room full of venders & products....a scrapbooker's dream come to life. It sounds like you got a wonderful deal on the double sided alphabet sets. *turning green with envy* I bet the canvas "scrapbook on the wall" sets are super cool too.
I am so glad that you went and had a terrific time. Thanks again for the detailed report.
well those that spent a lot in the Basic Grey -- Embellish It booth -- I probably helped you spend your money ... I love working for them and love the convention ... like someone else this is my 4th or 5th year going to this one and I schedule my summer around it ... so plan now to go ... I like the classes and feel that they are worth it and have not been disappointed considering how many I have went to ... but I love conventions for the stamper or scrapper or collector it is worth the trip ... I live in SW Oklahoma and drive down and stay with a friend ... I want to go to Grapevine to the stamp convention in July maybe but am also going to the CK convention in Tulsa .... I liked that this time there were more stamping vendors than in the past so it was a larger variety ... will wait and see the changes for next year since Memory Makers now owns GASC ... hmm what can they do to make it better ...
