I'm in Boston for the weekend for a conference and thought I could check out some stamping/scrabooking stores! Any recommendations? I'm right in downtown Boston near the convention centre...any recommendations for restaurants would great too
These stores are all a good 40 minute drive at least from downtown though...hope that helps you!
OH and also there is an AC Moore in Everett, not too far out of the city. not sure if you have AC Moore's where you live but that might be something good to check out if you've never been

one more thing about restaurants...
if you are around the Back Bay area (and it sounds like you are) try Fire & Ice. it's pretty fun. I believe it's on Berkley Street. It's a place where you go & pick all your ingredients uncooked and then they throw it on a big grill in front of you. sorta fun
Some great restaurants that I have been to are: The Four Seasons, Boston Harbor Hotel, Colonnade Hotel, Union Oyster House, Pier 4, and Jimmy's Harborside. I haven't been to any of these in years (maybe 10) so I don't know the current status of any of them. I do know they were pricey back in the day.
It's not specifically a stamp store, but they do have rubber stamps, paper, etc. I have never been but I saw it reviewed on an SCS member's blog, and it looked really nice.
It's on Boylston St, so there's access to public transit. I'm thinking of making a trip down there one day during work, since I work right outside of the city.
I have been to Paper Source and they have an okay selection of rubber stamps and other stampin items. Your not going to find the selectin of items that you would at a LSS. I usually get solid colored brads and stickles there. They have a great selection of papers, stuff that you typically won't see anywhere else. It is worth a stop there, mainly for the uniquness of some of their stuff.
As for places to eat I would also recommend Fire and Ice. Also if you like Italian, Giacomo's on Hanover St in the North End is very good. Croma and Upper Crust on Newbury St are also pretty good.
I will also second The Scrapbooker's Dream. I live pretty much right next door to it. I go whenever I can. There's a great selection of Quickutz dies, paper, stencils, Primas...and Laurie dedicates an entire wall to Amuse stamps and papers and embellishments. She's super friendly and helpful too. I think the store is awesome. It's a 40 minute drive from downtown Boston, but that's really not too bad at all. I drive that far every day just to get to work!!
And I will also second (third?) Fire and Ice. It is sooooo cool. And actually pretty cheap too, considering the quality and the atmosphere. I think it will run you 17$ for dinner, plus drink. I don't know of anywhere else in Boston where you can get *whatever* you want for that price. Definitely check it out. There's one in Boston, and another in Cambridge (Harvard Square) which is essentially the same thing, except I find the Cambridge one to be less crowded and more accessible. The Cambridge location is about a 3 minute walk from the Harvard Square stop on the Red Line. And for lunch, try to hit up Fanueil Hall. It's hot, crowded, overpriced and sweaty, but worth it for the experience!
I hope you have a great time. Boston is such a great city, and the suburbs around it are awesome too. I absolutely love living here and I can't imagine being anywhere else!!!

I was just out in Boston area (1st time ever) at Colorful Creations and Ink About it--they are WONDERFUL stores, and worth the drive if you have a car!
And, if you get a chance to visit Chelmsford, a most charming and quaint New England village, the lobster at Fish Bones is positively DIVINE!!! It was my first fresh lobster experience, too.

I too agree, the best LSS stores are in the suburbs. I actually was in Ink About It for the first time last weekend and the store is amazing. I've never been to Absolutely Everything or Colorful Creations but they are on the list. Another suburb store is The Crop Shop in Rockland, MA. This is more scrapping than stamping, but none the less an awesome place.
I don't know what number we're on "third, fourth, fifth" but whatever - Fire & Ice is definetly a must visit. Good food, plenty of it and very reasonably priced. Giacomo's in the North End was mentioned which is also one of my favorites. But you can't really go wrong with any of the Italian resturants in the North End. (Little Italy - not far from where you'll be).
You should really enjoy Boston, like someone else said it is a great city with plenty to see and do. Enjoy your visit.
