Ask yourself how many years you have wanted to go to CHA -- but did not.
Ask yourself - how can you possible serve your Paperlicious readers if you don't go. We need DP's fabulous critiques and opinions!
Ask yourself - what's the worst that can happen if you do go..... maybe break your budget a little bit - but don't you want to do your part for recession recovery?
I'm laughing here - loving that you can come to SCS for a "nudge" - best place in the world to be enabled!
I say - GO! And tell us all about it.
ps love the coffee card on your blog this morning. Hope it made your friend smile too.
I'm considering it. Really, really considering it. I spent an hour yesterday googling rates for flights and hotel accommodations. My husband is even trying to talk me into going. I went to CHA on a buying trip a few years ago, but I went as a retailer and we couldn't actually walk out of the show with any product. The idea of going and getting to walk away with items straight off the show floor is almost too much to ignore. I did find some flight/hotel combos that were pretty amazingly reasonable, but I'm still not sure. As it gets closer and I see more and more people talking about going I may get peer-pressured into hopping on a plane. We'll see.
I've been saying that I am for a while now, but I've been procrastinating in my actual plans...you know, we could actually go together...food for thought!
Besides, you could DEFINITELY use a get away!

I have never bee and it would be a nice day trip for me but I have some questions. I know that these are going to be a really dumb questions but....
Can you shop there?
What kind of stuff is vendored?
Is it cash only?
Can you bring your own shopping bags?
It looks like you can shop from retailers but not manufacturers (ie: you can shop from Papertrey, but you can't shop from Making Memories - at least that's how I understand the set-up).
If it's anything like the show I've been to in the past there will be everything from paper crafting to needlework.
I don't know about the payment options, but I imaging they want to make purchasing available to as many people as possible. My guess (and I could be totally wrong) is that the retailers will accept credit cards in addition to cash. I wouldn't count on checks, but I really don't know.
I imagine you can bring your own shopping bags. The one time I went in the past I had my toes run over plenty of times by rolling suitcases. Some vendors may want to give you a logo printed bag just so their brand is more visible. Who knows.
I checked the FAQ page for the show, but I didn't get as many answers as I thought I would find. Here's a link just in case they update as the show draws closer.

This is the first time the "consumer" side has been offered, so there are many questions that are unanswered at this time. It is completely separate from the normal CHA, which is industry-only (i.e., retailers go to purchase from wholesalers).
Lizzie is correct in her explanation of how some companies will be there but others won't. Basically, as I understand it, if a manufacturer sells to retail outlets (your local stamp store, online stores, etc.), they can not display at the consumer show. If the manufacturer does not (such as Papertrey) use that sales avenue, then they can be there. It is to protect the retailers and makes complete sense - I'm very glad that they thought that through so well (these small stores are having enough trouble without having to worry about their own supplier undercutting them).
HTH a little. Since it's new territory, I think lots of us will be learning as we go.

Oh, I would love to go. And if it were any other time of the year I probably would go. Quick and cheap flight from Atlanta. But unfortunately in July I am 1,000 miles to the north in Michigan. From there it would take a day and multiple flights to get to FL. So, I am not going. Joan you need to go so you can tell us all about it.

Oh ,I can't wait.I live about 1 hour from Orlando, so I can drive over for the day. My friends and I have been saving our moey to spend especially at Papertrey
I'm going! We live in South Florida about 2 1/2 hours away from Orlando and this is what I'm giving myself for Mother's Day. I'm rounding up a couple of other crafty friends and we're going to take a girl's weekend to CHA! It'll be 3 or 4 of us in one room with lots of margaritas and 2 days of CHA!
I've never been to CHA and I've only been papercrafting for about 2 years. Anyone thats been to CHA before - what I can expect and how much money should I really plan on spending? lol

I heard a great quote the other day, it said "live like you mean it"
such a simple phrase but yet so powerful
I say "go for it"

As soon as I read the announcement that PTI was going to go I knew I HAD to go! I am so excited to see Splitcoast there too!!!
My sister lives in Tampa and offered for me to stay with her and we will go together and she will show me some sights too!! I am SO excited, I cannot wait to meet stampers!!!!
How could you not go, Joan?! We need the DP point of view and to live vicariously through you ;) !
I'd love to go... but we went to WDW in February and I just don't see it happening this year. Anyone know when another "consumers welcome" CHA will be . . . and more importantly, where? Did I read somewhere that there is only one day open to consumers?
Lizzie - you should go for it, too!! You're checkin' flights and hotels... you're halfway out the door ;) ;) . Besides, if you've been before and couldn't purchase, well you just owe it to yourself!
I am hoping to go. I've been researching flights and hotels, too. Just have to make sure the $ is there before I commit. I would love to meet a bunch of stampers and see all those new paper crafting things in person! Oh, that would be heavenly!!
Joan! I have the PERFECT plan for you! Tell your husband you have to go so I can fill you in on all things St. Olaf and MN! You're doing it for the good of your son!
Hmmm...Lori! You are going? And to think you're right down the street yet we may meet in Florida... LOL!

Joan, does your son go to St. Olaf? My DH went to Gustavus Adolphus; I think they're rivals.
I live in Orlando so I will be going, probably both days! I think we should come up with a badge with our SCS avatar and user name so we can find each other! Or we all wear a pink shirt or something.

I live about an hour away, so I will almost certainly go, but I have to admit I'm a little apprehensive about how much I will like it--because I think it will be overwhelming. I will want to see everything, but I think that will be impossible, and so that will make me think I'm wasting time looking at one thing, while I OUGHT to be looking at the fabulous thing two rows over that I'm unaware of.
It's like at your wedding reception, where it's all your favorite people and you want to talk to everyone--but the whole time goes by in a flash, and you had only two minutes with all these people you love.
Or it's like at wine festivals, where they have 500 wines you can taste, all in one place--but I've learned I prefer wine tastings that have six wines, and I can taste them all properly.
But I guess I'll just be sure I visit Papertrey--the main thing I wouldn't want to miss--and I'll just consider anything else a bonus.
If I had to pay money for flights and hotels, I think I would skip going and would put that money toward actually buying products. Costs to attend could easily add up to at least a few hundred dollars. I would rather have a few hundred dollars' worth of additional stamps and paper.
I am sooo trying to get there! My MIL lives in Orlando so I don't have much of an excuse NOT to come! She is already going...FIL can watch kiddies....hope to see you there!
My sister and I are going together. We're Floridians which makes it easy. Got 2-day tickets. Wooohooo... Shop/craft all day, margaritas at night, doesn't get better than that.
I am planning to go! I live in Tampa so luckily I won't need a hotel and all that. I did look into some hotels anyway, but it seems like everything is really spendy then. It's a busy time of the tourist season.
I'm saving some money for everything, and it's two days after the bar exam so I will be REALLY ready and able to finally unwind!
