Looking for some ideas to make little gifts for our upcoming trips. Something to hold gift cards or maybe candy bars...
Any ideas?
Thank you!
Pasting the results of a Tutorials search doesn't work, but if you put gift card holder into the search field, there are loads of tutorials. Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
re: airline employees -- I took several 3"x3" cards and envelopes with me on a 2022 trip, and had Ghirardelli squares ready to tuck into them. The airline staff members could not accept any "gifts" so they all handed the candy back to me, but definitely appreciated the thought. (Just be prepared for reactions like that.)

This was my first thought when I first read this thread. Hotel employees would not/should not accept gifts either.
Let me say this...if I was working in a hotel, or being a flight attendant, or anywhere in a number of other service occupations, I would throw away any food items that were given to me. If it is a gift or gift card, I would ask my employer how they would prefer that I would pass it on. Our culture is full of crazy people (one of my federal representatives just received mail "with white powder" that is being tested as I write this). I would not want to be put in the position of having to deal with those gifts.
That said. I have stayed in multiple VRBO and AirBNB places. I go prepared with thank you cards and leave a written blessing to the owner of the facility. Notes of thanks are non-threatening. Other things may not be.
I would give them a nice thank you in a home-made card for their service. They are appreciated.
We always leave a tip for hotel employees. They provide a service that I think is more important than getting my order at a restaurant right. That being said, we are very good tippers for wait staff as well.
Airline employees cannot accept gifts..........hotel maids can and do accept tips.. If there are any type of food items left in a room/condo the rule is to trash them. I was astonished the first time I saw what went into a trash can when maids cleaned a condo next door to where we were in Hawaii. Then I asked at hotels etc. and found that to be the general rule.
Hmmm.....regarding flight attendants not accepting gifts: I watch several FA YouTube channels (American and Southwest). They are always showing little gifts that they received from passengers...usually small $ gift cards or candy bars.
Thank you all for the suggestions!
