My daughter is starting kindergarten this fall. She has 2 male teachers (team teaching). Any ideas for handmade gifts to start the school year off? I thought about thank you cards but is that too girly for a man??? ;-)
My daughter had a male teacher this past year. We gave him gift cards. (And, they weren't necessarily for a lot- sometimes $5-$10- depending on what it was for or if we had something to go with it). At the end of the year, a group of parents went together and bought baseball tickets for the MLB team he likes. Now, I know that those aren't "crafty" gifts. But, he really liked them. And, I always stamped a card to either hold or go along with the gift cards.

I made a note holder from the coasters (there's a tutorial in the resources), but I used masculine paper. And instead of putting the coasters together with ribbon, I used wire. I thought it turned out nicely and it looked "manly".
A movie bucket? Popcorn, popcorn seasoning, maybe a can of his/their favourite pop, a gift card for a movie rental at Blockbuster, a package of candy etc.

I think the snacks/food is a good idea. If they drink coffee (most teachers do  ) a coffee travel mug with a pack of coffee might be nice.
Blockbuster/movie rentals, etc. I am a kindergarten teacher, too. I always appreciate the thought of gifts, but I have so many A+ teacher mugs...
You should see if they carry clipboards (our team does). You could decorate a clipboard for each of them. Clipboards are cheap (99 cents) at Wal-Mart.
You could always use "school" colors for anything you do... or his University colors... I know at our middles school the teachers are really encouraged to show their University colors... Last year we had Michigan this year Ohio State! as well as other in state schools.
Thanks to all of you...keep those ideas coming! I should mention that I teach 3rd grade at the same school, so I know all about getting too many "whatevers" ;-) Although all of the gifts are appreciated, I would like to do something they will actually use! You ladies are giving me some great "usable" gift ideas! Thanks again!
maybe a notepad/stationary that has a last name monogram? I've seen notepads in Michael's $1 bins. I did this for my son's teachers last year. There was quite an assortment of letter-shaped stationary, tins with letters (put candy inside...later to be used for paperclips??), and other letter/name stuff.
I altered a notebook, acrylic post-it holder, and mega clips (using star and circle punches) for my daughters' male teacher. I did do a small set (only about 6-5-6) of greeting cards in coordinating styles/colors. I used - Thank You, Congrats, and Birthday greetings.
good luck! I'm sure it's always the thought that counts.
