I haven't stamped a card in quite a while, other than my Christmas cards. I had the idea of using Wolf (SU 2001)...I had wanted to emboss the large Wolf head in copper on black cs. I have tried several times and in the end you can NOT tell that it is supposed to be a wolf's face. It ends up looking like a copper blob. I have tried using copper ink, embossing ink, white ink, black ink..then I switched up the color cs I was using, thinking maybe that was the problem but it hasn't changed the resulting image. Anyone have any suggestions...or am I just forcing the idea and I should try getting the same look from a different method?

Have you tried using an anti-static bag like the Embossing Buddy before you stamp? That really helps the embossing powder go just where you want it, too.
Yes ma'am. I have, in the past, tried embossing w/o the embossing buddy That is not a good idea! My DH said maybe it's the contrast of the copper on the black that makes it look wrong. I don't know.

i'd try detail powder, that's a very "heavy" stamp with lots of detail in it.....it looks like it might be a hard one for embossing. you might also try using craft ink in the color you want the wolf, and clear embossing powder, or use regular ink, then dip it in versamark, and then clear embossing powder. good luck, that looks like a hard one!

Thank you for the suggestions! I can see the end result in my head but actualy getting it done is a lot harder than I thought it would be. :( I am a bit out of practice, but I am trying to get back into the groove. IF I can get it to look how I want I'll post it for sure LOL

Please don't feel like you're alone in that, lol! A lot of stampers get the same thing all the time; almost like there's a "disconnect" in our arms between the brain and the hand!
Aside from trying detail embossing powder, you might also try using a smoother and/or glossier paper. Often when using images with really fine details, matte cardstock makes it difficult to get a good result.
Sounds like your card will be nice. Detail embossing powder is probably what you need. If you have a stamp that is fine lines or very detailed, that is what will work. Got my fingers crossed for you, would love to see it when you get it done.
Ok, I just tried my would be suggestion which was to take copper perfect pearls over versamark ink on black cs, but there is just something wrong and off about the copper over the black - it has a freaky haunted look to it. The contrast really is not very successful. And it does have that photographic reverse look to it. I tried black pigment ink on Brushed Metallic Copper CS with a clear detail embossing powder and that worked better - image is recognizable, but a detail black powder would probably be best. Regular black powder was too heavy for the detail in this image. Good luck in your attempts. It's always frustrating when our brains can imagine something, but we just can't bring it to light!

I too just tried the color combination of Copper on black using Versa Mark, the image was OK but......... I tried the Copper on a metallic cappuccino and the result was fabulous....or at least much better.
It might be the copper on black that is the issue.
PS. I used a tiger stamp I had that is about the same density as the wolf, the wolf set in packed in a box under plastic bins of paper with my TV on top. Sorry I just did not want to dig it out. Love the Wolf, it was one of the first SU stamp sets I bought.
