LADIES, what am I doing wrong. My gel cards leak. I am using the small zip lock bags that one would use to store beads and other small items. One leaked at zip end, the other at the bottom. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. (And is it o.k. to use liquid handsoap as a substitute for the hair gel?)

It sounds like you really might have a defective batch of bags. How many have you gone thru?
I'm no expert, I've made a couple, but I think I would stick with the gel.
I wonder if the handsoap has something to do with the leaking??
Have you used gel in those bags? hmmmmmmm. I got my bags at Wal-Mart.
Sorry I wasn't much help.
I have made a bunch of these and the only time I get them leaky is when there is too MUCH gel in the bags...you only a tiny bit to get the effect AND we learned that if you use your clear hair gel and your ink pads you can any of the fabulous 48 colors SU has!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it but yea either something in the soap or the bags are bad.
Hope this helps

Gee, I've made several and haven't had a problem. Maybe it's the liquid soap. I've successfully substituted clear aloe vera gel instead of hair gel, and it's worked great.

Great tip with the Aloe Vera gel!!!
I also bought my bags at Walmart and have never had a problem. I only use about a TBSP of gel. Sounds like the handsoap might be causing your trouble.
Liquid soap has a much lower viscosity than hair gel -- perhaps that causes leaks? I don't think Ziploc bags are completely watertight, so soap may be just thin enough to leak out while the thicker hair gel stays put.
