Well, if Depends are good enough for female astronauts mixed up in love triangles driving across country, Depends ought to be good enough for the everyday, ordinary Stampin' Up! demonstrator who just needs to stay in the room long enough to hear her name called!
Now you know you are to funny. But I was sitting here thinking the same thing. ;) ;)

I cannot find the op which refers to the astronaut/love triangle/depends story...but probably the funniest part is that Lisa Nowak (astronaut) enjoys stamping. I remember reading about that in the newspaper when they first introduced the shuttle crew.
Why was her name "in the barrel" as it were if she wasn't attending the first session? Was she signed up but wasn't able to be there or something?
I'm sure that's the case. They likely pull all names of registered attendees, not just those who actually checked-in. Several people every year end up with last-minute family or personal issues that prevent them from coming.

That was also a free cruise, courtesy of Uncle Sam on the USNS Comfort during the Persian Gulf War but I would be way more excited about a free SU cruise, I promise! Jan
WOW, the USNS Comfort - Isn't that a medical ship? I think I've seen it in Baltimore a few time. Probably wasn't a very fun cruise, even without the seasickness.
I think my up-up-line (grandma??) took a picture of the screen so if it came out clearly, I can post the names of the other winners. I'll let you know what I come up with.
Hello-
Thought I would introduce myself, since I am a Cruise Winner. My name is Shannon and I cannot be more excited about this prize. I did not read the screen properly and thought someone else had the same name as mine! When I realized it was me, I ran (like a maniac) screaming, "That's my name!". I could not believe what a fabulous gift this was. I am very gratefull. I guess I will be leaving my 4 year old Triplets at home and enjoying some serious Bermuda fun (perks or no perks)! Thanks for all the Congrats!
....I didn't get any other winners names, but I was standing next to the woman with a baby....Congratulations to all of you!
It was kind of like a dream, like it wasn't real that my name was up there. My upline, Princessannabananna, had to tell me my name was up there and to get up to the stage. I wasn't really sure that I was reading the list properly.
Wait, I know you. We are BEST friends. Can you take someone with you? I'll carry your luggage!!!:-D

Shannon...have a wonderful time in Bermuda! My SIL and her husband went for 5 days in June...getting ready for baby #2 in less than 10 days...and they loved it. They said that driving is crazy, things are pricey, but it is beautiful and they were thankful that they had the opportunity to go. I bet your husband is thrilled!

Sounds like this is well deserved, Shannon. Anyone that is raising 3 four year olds at once definitely deserves some fun and perks!
Congrats!

Hi Shannon, I'm the 'woman with a baby'. I left my other three girls at home with Daddy (a 3,5 and 7 year old) so I could go to convention. I'm so excited to go. I can't wait to chat with all the demos , sorry - I mean creative consultants - on the cruise. Lets stay in touch and meet up on the cruise.
When we were taking the picture, were you on my left or right?

Hello Shannon,
Triplets. Just the word makes me tired. Sounds like it will be a well deserved vacation. Glad you won!
My wife Rebecca and I have been there twice and we will be aboard with you. As another poster mentioned, the island can be very expensive and by having the ship as your floating hotel, there are very few expenses. On our first cruise there, we ate most meals aboard ship but had one meal on shore. $35.00 for 2 hamburgers, fries and cokes!
Glad to see you used your first post on scs on such a wonderful topic!

Wow. This is the first male post I have seen besides Krabearkub. Do you stamp too?

I got serious when I realized that my wife had been a demo for 10 years and I had never stamped anything. I kept threatening for years but when a scs challenge came up a few weeks ago, I said this is it! My wife will be walking across the stage this year (2nd session) for her 10 years. I am real proud of her and am even thinking about going to SU's 20th year convention next year.

This is just making me cry for happiness for these gals and I am crying for the gal that was in the bathroom man I just can't get over that.
She wasnt in the bathroom. Things had come up and she didnt get to attend convention. One of my roomies knows her and was telling me about the sad situation of her not being there. What a shame!

Awww......man......considering that she's been through some tough stuff lately (from what it sounds like), she should really have gotten it anyway.

So what you're saying is there's hope, huh? My DH has delivered a few forgotten stamp pads when I'm at a workshop but has yet to touch a stamp to paper. I'll be patient. :-)

Hello Nancy,
There is hope. As long as you remember to bring home the left over cookies and brownies from the workshop for your DH.

Congratulations to the winners!!!!!
How very exciting!!!!
It's too bad that you won't be able to attend the special events on board :(
Oh well, I imagine it will be fun just to be there!!!!
Tanya Lasseigne is from Louisiana and is in my downline. She was one of the cruise winners and attending her first convention. I'm not sure that she checks here on SCS.

Doesn't check SCS?? WHAT??? Ha ha...just joking. Well tell her to log on and get in touch. I'd like to see if we can get the winners together while we're on the cruise since the others will probably be in make and takes or general session or something. Otherwise, pm me and i'll give you my e-mail address for you to give her so we can chat. Thanks!!
Congrats to all you cruise winners!!! Since I did not make convention this year, I'm hoping she draws more people's names at regionals!! Highly unlikely I know, but a girl can always dream!!!!

Why wont they get to do the special events? Was that announced as Shelli was handing out the winners?
"Here winner, you won a cruise, you just dont get
to do any SU! fun stuff"? lol
Thats sad if its true!

In the past, SU used to pick winners from all the hostesses submitting orders in a quarter to get a free cruise. None of these winners were able to get all the perks that were given to the demos that earned the cruise.
Even the girls that bought in on the cruise in 2006 weren't able to come to the demo only events.
It's just one of those perks that you get when you're a demo and earned the cruise.
It's not a mean or nasty thing.......it's just that the demos that have earned the cruise have worked really hard for it.
There are plenty of things that the cruise winners could do that wouldn't exclude them from demo only events.......the display boards are in a room that's open to the public, there's swaps that the winners could take part in if they're aware of them (swaps put on by other demos), etc.
But who knows.....maybe SU will change that this year. That's just how it's been done in the past.

Shelli did say that it was without all the perks but they were sure they would have a great time anyway. CardLuver, please correct me if I heard it wrong.
P.S> CardLuver, I was sitting in the section just across and back from you and I thought you were so cute! I was thinking that you were one who would need the cruise come next March . Congratulations to all of the winners!
Well, she said it BEFORE she announced the names, but yes, thats what she said, and the letter she gave us confirmed it. Basically the 'winners' are considered 'guests' not 'achievers' so they don't get to go to the general session or the make and takes, and from what I hear the achievers get a gift on thier pillow and we wouldn't. I also heard that Shelli likes this to be a vacation so the organized events don't take up much of the time (but I don't know that for sure).
I'm looking at it this way: I get to GO!!! And I get to talk to all these amazing people during the cruise so I'll still get benefits of just hanging out with these demos and getting to know them. Maybe they'll share some of thier knowledge and I'll benefit that way as well. And the exposure will be wonderful. And maybe I'll meet Shelli and some of her family members or employees. They are all so creative that I hope some of it rubs off. I'm so excited to see the boards and other things too.

So, were you behind me and the section to my right (as we were facing the stage)? By the pole (or wahtever that was)?

Exactly, this is a vacation for cruise achievers. They work so hard at our businesses all year long, this is a chance to just have fun and relax. The events don't take up a lot of the time and they're all optional. There's usually just the General session, the make & takes and a PJ party. Other than that, this is YOUR time!
SU leaves a gift in cruise achievers' rooms EVERY night.
And yes, that's totally the way to look at it.....YOU GET TO GO! That's awesome! What a great gift and opportunity for you to have a fantastic PAID vacation AND you get to bump elbows with some fantastic demos. They are always MORE than happy to share their experiences with you, their business ideas, their success stories, things they've learned along the way, their projects and swaps, etc.
Even though you might not get the "perks" that cruise achievers do, you still have something amazing....a FREE CRUISE!!!
