Default Fix a Rubber Stamp

Hello,
I have several rubber stamps that I use a lot and the stamp is coming off of the material that it is attached to. Do I have to use rubber cement to put it back on, or do you have any suggestions?

Thank you for your help on this

I use Aleene's Clear Gel Tacky Glue (the one in the clear bottle) It works great, just give it about an hour to dry. Set something heavy on top while it dries. I tried rubber cement, and it just made a big mess!

I have also had good luck with Judikins Diamond Glaze. I let it dry for about a day before cleaning the stamp. HTH.

I used crystal effects to "fix" a stamp that seperated from the wood. Put a dab on and let it set for 10 min and used. Been holding for well over a year now! Easy!!!

I used to use crystal effects too, but I remember someone here telling me that it wasn't a good idea, so now I use rubber cememt to fix my stamps. I can't remember why I was told it wasn't a good idea....I think it had something to do with it becoming hardened over time.

Thanks for the info-It is nice to know. I only did this on one stamp, so I am not sweating it:p

Thank you all so much for your helpful suggestions. Since I do not have any of the options and need to buy one I will just buy some rubber cement.

Thank you again

when you repair w/rubber cement . . . brush a bit on both pieces and let it dry before sticking them together. this will keep the bond more permanent (read the bottle instructions to make sure I'm correct. . . I think it says for a temporary stick to put them together when still wet)

Instead of sticking it back ont he wood mount, why don't you try an acrylic block? You probably have enough "sticky" left to hold it? and the unmounted stamp can go in an old CD case for storage. Takes up a lot less room!

I use any tape runner (permanent) that I happen to have. I've never had a problem with the stamps coming apart a 2nd time.

I am with Judith on this one. I still buy wood mounted often but when they come off like that they end up with my unmounted stamps and still have enough stick to cling to the acrylic. When they no longer stick to acrylic just put the backing on them they sell for unmounted stamps.

I have used 100 Proof Press's cushion without a problem but there are a number of places online that carry it. Some LSS's carry EZ mount but I have never used that brand.

Hope this helps
