Can someone tell me where I can get netting that I can use on a card for fishing net? I bought some at Michaels a while ago, but it is way too thick to use on a card. Any ideas for me? Thanks a bunch!
Oh, great ideas!!! Do you know what is sold in a colour that might look like fish nets?
If it would work with your design you can sponge over a produce bag net to make a background - doesn't matter what colour the net is then. Just tape the edges of the net to your worksurface to keep it stretched and in place as you sponge (example attached so you can see how that works out).

In the past I have used sterile gauze, the kind you buy at a pharmacy. I have used it white but I am sure you could dye it with reinkers if you wanted a brown color. Here is a card where I used gauze.
I actually bought some at our local Dollar Tree. I think it was to use as a decoration but it would work for your card too. It was a significant amount - all for $1.00!

I have a ton of real fish net. The fine stuff for netting smaller fish. My son got it for me, and I use it on cards with boats, lighthouses, etc. However, I live in an area known for fishing/fish boils, so things like this are more common. When I go this, they had black and white. I took the white. It's not super white, having been used, then stored in fish boxes for many years. But it's the real deal, and the "used" look is more to my liking.
We have store near us called Party City (chain on east coast) that sells it in the summer and I know you can always order it online from Oriental Trading here. Its only $4.95 for a 4' x 14" foot piece.

PM me with your address and I will send you some ultra fine mesh that would make ideal fish nets. Suspect it could be 'dyed' as well with copics or other medium. What I have is 5-6 inches wide - would 2 or 3 yards be enough?
I was at a store today and I looked at a hairnet. My 8yo daughter says "Mom, why are you looking at a hair net. Wait, I know. It has something to do with stamping." Guess I'm getting too predictable! BTW it looked like the hairnet would have worked OK, but was nylon and kind of shiny.

I will check out the fabric store too.
Pearl onions come in white, turkeys come in a gold color that actually looks tan, new red potatoes come in yellow. They are all plastic, though, so don't color. Cheese cloth is my favorite for dimension without bulk. It is an off-white, but can easily be died with inks. Try a pet store or fishing supply store/area for the real thing in a fine gauge. You have inspired me to look further.

You might could cut the netting off of a "dip net" for goldfish or a larger one from the sporting goods (fishing dept) of WalMart or other stores where goldfish or fishing supplies are sold.

If the hairnet is nylon, it can be dyed with Rit dye. Probably not worth it if you're just doing one card though. And you would have to start with a light color for it to work well.
