Every time I look at the new SU Occasions mini and check out the gorgeous samples in the gallery, I have a new favorite! But I know I can't have it all For those of you who use SU, what set / item from the new mini do you like best?
I like the Tea Shoppe set and would be really tempted if the big cup was in the design of the polka dot cup or maybe just swirls. I already have a Stampin' Up teacup with pansies on it.
The doily is pretty, and different from others I've seen, but has too plain an edge to as a background layer. I like the Framelits labels, but I've seen similar die for a lot less. I also think the pleated ribbon is pretty, but I have enough ribbon to last awhile.
In other words, stuff in the mini is OK, but nothing special enough to convince me to order.
My biggest problem is that I tend to fall in love with things I think are pretty rather than things I could use the most! So while I love the sets and papers with flowers and teacups, I would be smarter to invest in something like the kites or the "you're my type" set, because they are unlike anything else I have so far. I think since I have two sons, I tend to compensate by buying lots of floral, girly stamps

I am IN LOVE with the new pleated ribbon! I should have gotten ALL the colors! I can't seem to make a project without it! It's pretty and frilly and girly!!!!
I haven't purchased from SU in awhile but I always look -- maybe I shouldn't!! In the Occasions catalog, I like the teacup set, Rue des Fleurs, and Sweet Cake. I also like the baby and wedding sets though rarely need them so get by with things I already have. And Heaven Blessed is very sweet but I have Easter covered. The Twitterpated paper and the pleated ribbons are really pretty. And I like Apothecary Art and Up in the Air too!
I think I remember that some Occasions Mini items might make it to the 'big' catalog... do SAB items ever get carried over into the IB&C, too?
You SU demos are going to clean up this time around, I think .

SAB exclusive items never make it to the big catalog. They are only for SAB. Some items from the mini catalogs come back in the next big catalog but it's always a guess to which ones. All of the big shot items always do and punches always have...up until the stocking punch....
So, as far as other accessories and stamp sets we have no idea. Just have to wait and see what shows back up.....

Thanks Minders. If you notice my sigline, I have no business being here, LOL! Although I use products from all over, I've pretty much weaned myself from SU except what I have from days of old. But I always wonder. The minis are consistently tempting and I never like SAB - so that was a fun surprise!
No matter the company, it's always fun to see new stamps come out. And there are a lot of them lately!

I'm going to cry, CRY when the SAB DSP goes away!!!! And yes I agree, I love to see new stamps too, no matter from where! I "window shop" often:-)
I'm actually being tempted by that kite set, Send Me Soaring. I don't have a kite set, and I like the sentiments in the set as well. My only complaint is that there isn't a matching punch or die (how spoiled am I, anyway?!) Heaven forbid I actually have to cut those nice, straight kites freehand!
I also like pretty much everything in the Twitterpated and Sweet Shop Suites.

I wasn't crazy about it when I first saw it, but the more I browsed through it, and saw all of the enabling samples in the gallery.....well.....you know how it is!
I love the framelits and edgelits dies, plus the adorning accents embossing folders. I LOVE the pleated ribbon and the new colors of bakers twine. As for stamp sets, I am getting the Bordering on Romance and the Candy Converations. I will probably also get the Send Me Soaring set as well....gotta love kites. And, oh....the Blushing Bride Smooch Spritz and the Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Effects!!!!!!
If they came out with a co-ordinating tea cup punch I would get the Tea Shoppe stamp set. But I just see too much fussy cutting with that big tea cup - and I would have to cut it out. I have gotten spoiled with punches and dies.
I am also happy with the SAB offerings this year, too. The brochure is very elegant.
I am anxiously awaiting my first order to arrive sometime on Wednesday. I can't wait to play!
I just got home from my monthly SU card class day. Ordered $100 so I am getting two items from SAB. And I picked? Two that are in the regular catalog! The DSP looks cute, maybe next month. But these two stamps were on my wish list, so I got them.
I'm looking forward to the new dies (well except the Doily one, have only heard problems so far), the pleated ribbon looks so pretty and the baker's twine.
As far as the scented EP I've heard good things about it but don't have it yet. I think most people have gotten the cherry so far.
The doily die is really nice and as long as I shim it (I use one or two pieces of white CS for the shim) I don't have a problem with it not cutting all the way through. You will have to poke out a bunch of bits but I discovered that after the first time I've gotten much quicker at getting rid of the bits.IMO it's really worth the extra bit of work :-)

I heard the vanilla EP smells really good too. I don't have it and won't get it as I'm sensitive to smells and they can trigger headaches for me....so I stay away. But I do know someone said it made them want to eat the paper they embossed it on, LOL!
Not so much the SU designs, but I like the Sizzix Framelits - the way the cutting edge is on the inside edge so you can stamp your image, then get an exact placement for cutting with the Framelit. Saw a short video on the Sizzix site using Hero Art stamps. Other than that, I kept thinking the stamps were all re-dos of old ones or so similar to other companies that nothing at all caught my eye.
I *love* the framelits.
I think I need to hire someone to stand by my big shot and just run through the sizes and colors I need. It seems like these are going on everything I make.
I also like that the framelits come with matching stamp sets, which makes designing easy.
