Default Envelope Size Question

I would like to place an order for bulk envelopes for the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card. I believe that envelopes for this are considered A2, but the majority of places I look say the envelope is 4 3/8" x 5 1/2". I usually use envelopes from SU or Archiver's, so I don't want to order the wrong size. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks!

The standard A2 envelope size is 4 3/8" x 5 3/4". That 5 1/2" measurement that you mentioned would be the same as the card size, so there wouldn't be enough extra room for the card to fit in that envelope.

Yes, I agree, and I was off on one of my measurements.

I found some envelopes through Staples that are called No. 5-1/2 (4-3/8" x 5-3/4"), so I think the size needed is this, not the A2. SU does not mention a size on their envelopes.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions/help!

The dimensions for envelope size A2 and No. 5 1/2-Bar are the same. The difference is in the type of flap. See the illustration on this chart, which shows the styles for Baronial (pointed top flap) and Announcement (square flap). http://www.paper-papers.com/envelope-size-chart
