I think this already got answered but it is great for applique, wool, and paper piecing. I also like it for embrodiery (spelling? :rolleyes and punch needle pattern transfers.

My light box was a cheap on from Wal-Mart and it moves on me all the time, I have to try and hold it down and then try to trace, its a fight so I don't use mine.

I recently used mine for scrapbooking. I have some large letter templates and I like to use them for titles, but I use them to cut photographs into letter shapes. I put the photo face down on the light box, and I put the letter template upside down over the photo. Then I can see the photo to center it the best I can in the letter and trace the letter reverse on to the back side of the photo. Then I hand cut the letter out. It comes out very cute. It is a 3 inch chunky alphabet. HTH

Brass Stencils work better with a lightbox if you just want the embossed image on part on the page. LM :-)

My husband made mine about 10 years ago...I can't think to part with it. True, I haven't used it for years...but it was truly a labor of love...and I'm keeping it

Using a light box is great if you want to stamp in a circle, oval or some other shape. You can trace a shape onto copy paper, put it under your cardstock on the lightbox and stamp away. This way you won't have to erase any lines on your cardstock. It's also great to draw straight lines, and you can line up multiple sentiments. Or if you want to make a frame out of small images (think Rubber Stamp Tapestry peg stamps), the lightbox also works great for this. Another thought: if you want to incorporate a sentiment into your stamped frame, draw the shape onto copy paper, stamp your sentiment onto the paper. Then use it underneath and you'll have everything lined up perfectly.

Many more uses than just for brass stencils. Hope this helps!

great ideas, thanks!!
