We are finishing our back yard and are trying to plan the sprinkling system. We have been considering building me a stamping play house for all of my stuff, and to hold clubs and classes. Does anyone have one and what are the pros and cons of it? Any opinion or experiences would be appreciated!!;)
Well, after her royal rubberness has spoken, I'm not sure I should even try.
But, I will, I say go for it, but only if, you can spend time away from the house---if you have small kids, it may not be as practical. I love my room, but I would love a bigger space, and that would only happen with my own little hideaway in the backyard. When they are a little older, maybe!!!
sounds awesome!
I couldnt do that (yet!)..have small children who like to "help"!
But it sounds like heaven to me.
As of right now...i have a closet i work out of...not kidding. My dh keeps saying i can have his office (which basically sits unused) but I dont feel like moving everything down there. I often end up creating wherever in the house anyway...so it is fine right now.
Right now would be the key phrase!
Post pictures if and when you do it. I would love to see it (and drool!)
I would be in heaven. I agree with the little kids thing, but if you had it for clubs and classes and could bring in stuff easily to work on when you couldn't leave the house, I would say go for it.
It's funny that you mention that - my hubby and I were at Home Depot the other day and we noticed that they have all these swing sets set up for summer so I had to go sit and swing for a minute. Well, the swing sets are over by the pre-built sheds. We ended up looking at a couple because some of them were really cute (we saw one that was made to look like a log cabin on the outside and one that we made to look like a really pretty doll house - how perfect those would be for club house for kids) well, we walked into one that was *huge* and I said that it would be a perfect stamp getaway. It had floor-to-ceiling shelves on one wall! Hubby said we have to get a house with a yard first ... boy I hate it when he's right! ;) Anyway, I say all that to say: go for it - it would be super cool!

I keep trying to post the link to the great scrapping shed on another site but I keep getting the message that I cannot post a link until I have posted 3 times (I have posted more than that so I am confused)
anyway it is on Two Peas in a bucket, go to the peanut gallery, then search by categories and it is in the scrap area. Or you can search "shed" and it should come up. If you still can't see it email me and I will send you the link
well darn, we need a shed, but I'm not sure Dh would go for a scrapping shack. I love the idea though, maybe I can talk to Ds about converting his treehouse, hmm, LOL
I do! We have a cottage in our backyard that we use to rent out. My DH hated being a landlord so when the last renters moved out - I moved in. The kitchen/living/dining area are all mine! My DH got the bedroom for all his junk. I love being able to go to my own space away from the house and do my thing. I also hold all my classes there. It's also great to be able to write it off on our taxes.
I say GO FOR IT!!!

Wow! That shed is amazing. I love the porch. I would love to put something like that in our backyard but I am trying to get my DH to let me have 2 pgymy goats and eventually he wants to build an in ground pool as he is going back into the pool business soon. It is a neat concept that makes you think...Why didn't I think of that?

We have a shed in our back yard, its a 20x48 I think....well I've approached dh about converting it to a stamp/scrap shed, but he didn't go for that at all. Said I'd never be in the house if we did that. UMMMM probably right for the first time.
I'd say if you can do it, do it....
Let us see photos...the one at 2peas is fab!

I sort of have my own building. Actually it is a 30 x 50 steel building that is insulated, has a full bath and heat/air. It was built for my business but I wanted it big enough for my sewing stuff. I was a tole painter and a book distributor, taught, etc...so had tons of stuff. It was great. The distribution business has tapered off and I've gradually taken over more and more for stamping/cardmaking and I have classes. I have no kids and have always been "in the office" all day except for lunch. The nice thing is all of every kind of mess, including bills, etc., is down here in the building and my house stays very tidy and I can walk away and leave a terrible mess in the building with paper and stamps everywhere. It is not cheap to run a separate building though when you consider the utilities and all. But it is wonderful to have. If you can do something for yourself, I'd do it.
Margaret

One of my customers has one. In fact, not only does she have a stamping playroom, she has an in-ground pool as well... and a hobby farm... and a pool table room... and 2 fireplaces... and and and...
She's selling her house and moving to Las Vegas in a few months and golly gee would I love to buy her house!
Now I have the B52's song "Love Shack" running through my head but instead I'm singing it like this:
"The Scrap Shack is a little old place
where we can get together
Scrap Shack baby, Scrap Shack bay-bee.
Scrap baby, that's where it's at,
Ooo Scrap baby, that's where it's at
Sign says.. Woo... stay away fools,
'cause stamps rule at the Scra-a-p Shack!
Well it's set way back in the middle of a field,
Just a funky old shack and I gotta get back
Glitter on the mattress
Glitter on the highway
Glitter on the front porch
Glitter on the hallway":-D

I think I will have to frame that! :-D That is sssoooooo cute! The more DH and I talk about it, the more excited I get!! My friends are unable to go to convention with me this year, so the $ it would take for me to go is going to go to "shack" instead. I am getting really excited!!
I
ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Oh MY!!! Those pictures are amazing!!! I'm stampin with the cat over my stuff because I am practically in his food dish trying to squeeze into every last bit of space.
What a wonderful place! If you can do this, then girl, go for it! AND congrats to those of you that have such wonderful DHs to help and cooperate! LOL
If you have the land space for it - do it! Sounds fabulous! I've thought about having something like this too - someday when/if we have the land for it!
I have my own 24" x 24" garage which is full of all my pottery stuff and overflow of craft items. I don't stamp out there because clay and stamping don't mix too well.......lol
So when the older boys moved out I took over their room downstairs for my stamp room. It's 12" X 24".
