At a recent party, one of the women brought notepads that she had made using a paper drill. She used the drill to put holes thru a stack of paper, then covered the top of the stack with stamped cardstock and put ribbon thru the holes and tied it to hold the paper together.
I saw a paper drill at JoAnns, but it cost $50. I'm wondering if anyone else has the paper drill, if you use it and what all you use it for.
When I first saw these drills I had my brother go through all of my dad's old tools and send me the one I use. It's the same as a Japanese paper drill, only it's a Stanley (Sears) tool. Basically just a push drill. The Stanley comes with several different bit sizes that store inside the handle. Don't know about theprice but I bet it's way cheaper than a "real" Japanese one.
These are mostly used if you like to make little books, although it also works as an "anywhere" hole punch.
A very good friend of mine bought me a Japanese Book Drill (with 7 bits) and I LOVE it!! I don't bang my anywhere hole punches anymore because I can just use the drill. I don't know what I would do without it!
I have a Dremel tool which would work I assume for what you are saying. I got the Dremel to drill holes in my dominos when I make them. It comes with many diff tips and plus there is other ones you can buy. There is alot of uses for this tool and I know I got mine off Amazon for pretty reasonable but off top of my head can't remember the price at all sorry.
I know this thread is old, but if anyone could help me that would be great. I am looking at this site for paper drills and I was wondering if anyone here could recommend a good one. Thanks.
Martha Stewart has one that you can find on sale or buy with a coupon at Michael's. I have several JoAnn stores that I can get to easily but none of them have much MS stuff.
I have a Japanese one plus extra bits I bought from Bonnie's Best that was $$$. I leave this one at home because I don't want to have someone 'borrow' it and drop it or lose a bit. I have my MS one in my workshop bag. I can use the bits in either one but leave my extras at home. My LSS sells extra bits. I make mostly cards but I can see a scrapbooker using the paper drill within a page.
Was looking through my workshop bag for something and saw the MS paper drill. Unscrewed the top and there were 3 drill bits inside. I don't leave one on the end since the 'holder' band could loosen and the bit drop out.
If someone you know has a drill press, you can buy a bit to fit it that would drill holes in stacks of paper! I bought a drill press to drill holes in glass blocks for $99 at Sears!
It is one of my most cherished tools -- got a Japanese drill from Bonnie's Best Art Tools at least 7 years ago -- with all the bits. You can make holes anywhere on the paper for brads, etc. love this thing!
