Default Do you work at an island?

I would like to see some of the islands that people work at. This has been one of my thoughts for awhile now to stand at a island rather than a desk or countertop. Is there anyone else out there doing this? I would like to see your room how you have it set up with an island in the middle.

I use the center island in my kitchen. I have a stamp room, but the child has a fit if I hide in there. Then he helps when I stamp. So I stamp in my kitchen dining room areas. Then I can stamp alone.

I'm such a nerd. I saw the title & wondered where there were islands & what this had to do with stamping! I'm on dry land in Texas, but an island sounded nice!

THen I understood! LOL! I obviously DON'T have an island in my house!

Default I just paper crafts island

My wonderful DH just built me this great papercrafting island in our living room....now paper nirvana. Anyways, my island is the same height as my kitchen table so that I can use those chairs if I want to. It's great to be able to stand or sit. I also love the workspace (46 x 46). I debated to do with the inside so I finally settled on storing my stamps in there. I can fit all of them on both sides and it's pretty deep. I figured that if I put my stamps in there...then I can just get the ones I need and not have to be constantly bending down. I am getting cabinets for the rest of the living room so that's where everything else it. No basements here in CA and my house is tiny enough. Have to use all my space creatively and wisely.

Thats what I am talking about - terrific island, Daisy. When you say its 46x46 is that the top counter space. How tall is it? Is there storage on the other side. How deep did you make your shelves? Sorry for all the ?????
