I keep kicking myself for now buying curvey verses a few minis back. I really like the words mixed greetings and sage advice. Along the shore is really nice and goes well w/coast to coast, and all the seaside sketches. I also really like the BBQ set.
It's interesting to me to see that just as many people are overwhelmed as underwhelmed by the SAME sets! I guess SU! is right on the money, then! Fascinating ...
My personal opinion on the summer mini is I see some MUST-haves and a few won't-bothers. Frankly, I appreciate an occasional won't-bother ... or at least my pocketbook does!
I too like the Summer Mini, but that's happened to me in the past where everyone just ranted and raved about one and I felt out of the loop not really caring for much. Don't worry - next mini catty you'll probably want them all!!

Really??? Oh, man, I just love Curvey Verses and use it more than I thought I would!--I'll be sad if it doesn't make the catalog . . . :( But, then, it's just an excuse to replace it with something new! Heh, heh, heh! ;)

I do like the sets in the spring mini-and actually got excited about them after reading Julie's long and very detailed descriptions of them that she was kind enough to share when she first got the mini. (It was so fun imagining the sets from your descriptions, Julie, and then seeing them in the catty).
I loved mixed bouquet right away-I think it is a more whimsical style than roses in winter but I will be able to use it for a lot of cool techniques since it has line and solid images. I also LOVE the monkeys-very Curious George like and teh "monkey accessories" are great.

I have mixed feelings about the summer mini, and some of the gallery images uploaded so far have actually heightened my ill-opinion of the sets I really don't like -- such as Stew Pots, Fairy Nice (why can't they have a sophisticated looking fairy set instead of the cartoonish ones?), Cattitude (again, anything wrong with a more sophisticated cat set?) and Walk This Way (just not into the folk animals).
The ones I love and will definitely be ordering are: Godspeed (but NOT the companion wheel--do not like that at all), Along the Shore, Bouquet (wheel), Sage Advice and Mixes Greetings. The jury is still out on the monkies, but they're starting to grow on me (if nothing else I love the accessories with it--vines, pineapple, bananas).
Between the summer mini and the retired list June is looking to be an expensive month for me!

The only set I really like is the mixed boquet DD flower set, but I think I am going to wait until the new catalog comes out to see if it is there, I don't want a big set I can't demo. I am actually glad I wasn't in love with everything, I have other things to buy!
I'm not a demo, but since the Summer Mini goes through August, do you really think they would have a stamp set from the mini also in the new IBC that comes out in July? Just a thought. Myself, I like the flower set and it's one of 3 that I really want to get unless I see some more really cute cards in the gallery and then I may need more.

Out of boredom the other day, I looked at last year's summer mini....not one set was in the IB&C for 04/05. I'm thinking we'll see some of them this year (like Petal Prints!!)....
If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will jump in and correct me! LOL!!

I'm not a demo, so I haven't seen the summer mini catalog. I can only go by what I see in the gallery. The fairy one is a must have with the cards I've seen in the gallery and all the nieces I have. I'm thinking about the monkey one. The cards are great and I could use it in my son's scrapbook. I like the BBQ one, but I don't know if I would use it. I don't like the flower one, stew people, or the sheep and cows. I would like to know what the cats are like because the ones in the spring mini creeped me out. The spring mini catty... now that one was awesome. Didn't have enough money for everything I wanted. I'm glad I'm not in love with a lot of sets in the summer mini. I have to figure out what and how much to buy from the retired list.
I didn't care for Cool Cat at first and didn't "get it" but now I do like it. However, I will even need more help being persuaded into "Cattitude" Now that cat is a little ?????? I don't know, just not my style. However I have eaten my words on that same sentence before . Daggone gallery and all the wonderful creative people here.
I absolutely love the summer mini!!!! I'm just not sure that I'll get to order that much w/ the new IB&C coming out in the next couple months.
The ones I must have are the monkeys, the alphabets, the sayings, the fairies, the beach, and the 4 wheeler (my son just got one for Christmas and wants me to get that set!).

If you have a demo that is sending you a mini, it should come about May 15th.
And no, sets from the summer mini will not be in the upcoming catalog, but might make next year's!!!!
And back on topic, I wasn't attracted to very many of the sets in this mini, I do like Sage Advice. I liked almost everything in the spring mini though. I figure that's a sign that SU! is appealing to everyone.

I'm a demo and at first, I didn't care for the Summer Mini at all. I liked FAR more sets in the Winter and Spring minis, but I still managed to pre-order a few things from the Summer Mini, which I think will be very versatile:
Mixed Bouquet (and wheel)
Mixed Greetings
Take Shape (SO versatile!) and wheel
Monkey Business
...and the white gel pen!
Don't like it, see nothing I have to have and I went back and looked a few times. I think a lot of the cards being made are cute but they are nothing I would care to make. I actually have a note written to ask my demo not to use any of them at my summer party. She always showcases something from the mini but I am so not interested.

I haven't had the catalog in my hand yet, but, from what I've seen of it, I don't care much for the summer mini sets. That's a good thing, because I bought sooo many from the spring mini!
Along the Shore is probably the only one I'll get. I think the flower set is extremely ugly, and I love flowers! I don't know who you'd send cards to using the main image from the military set...I don't think a soldier would want a picture of a soldier writng home, and don't think family members would want to be reminded of the hardships of military life. I just think it's a depressing image!
Having said that, I'm sure there are many out there who love it all. I think I'll just wait and hope for a better selection in the new catalog!

I agree with the veggie thing. I am not a fan of that but I do like some of the sets. I think the new catalogue will be great. Just a feeling. I just starting with stampin up and with what I have seen I think we have a lot to look forward to.
I'm reserving my opinion on the Tag Alpha & Numbers -- I'm hoping that there will be something in the new IBC that makes "sense" of that design . . . ;)
Did you notice the different ways it was used in the mini?
What I've seen so far hasn;t "floated my boat"..but quite often when nothing does, my demo will do some samples and VOILA! Gotta have 'em!!!! I'm waiting to see her mini catty tonight, she often lets us "preview" to get us worked up over them LOL
We all have such different tastes and styles. I bought almost the entire spring mini, but am less excited about the summer mini. I also don't really like animal stamps or talking veggies. I am more of a flower and vintage style stamper. I do use cute stamps for scrapbook pages, but I use them at a scrap club. I'm sure the catty will have lots for us all!!
Even if I loved the summer mini, I need to take a break before my DH files for divorce.
I have to agree with some of the other comments I have read. I am an Air Force Wife and I was excited about the military sets I heard about. After seeing them I don't think there is much to be excited about. I thought they would be a little nicer. I am wondering what my customers will think and if I will be able to sell any of them. Most of my customers are military and spouses.
There are two things I want (Along the Shore and Sage Advice), but I'm glad I don't need (er, want) everything. As so many have said, I can save for more in the new catty!!!!!
I am usually not very impressed either, but I found a few sets in this one I like. I like the Take Shape set. I think it is very flexible - I am already planning my Christmas cards using the cirlce as an ornament. I love the fact that it can be a vase, a light bulb, a balloon, or an ornament. I also like the Mixed Bouquet, Mixed Greetings and the tag alphabet, though I'm only pre-ordering the one. I thought I would do a sample of all the different things you can do with it and send it out to my customers before the mini goes public to drum up some business for it.
This one actually had more in it that I liked than usual.
