Ok, so easy guess that at one time or another, everyone here has sent a homemade card. But how often do you ever recieve one?
I have rarely recieved handmade a card, the few times I have it was from a friend who I already knew crafted and I can expect something homemade. I am rarely suprised with a handmade card (except that year DH snuck into my stamp stash!).
Nope...I got one about 5 years ago and after asking that friend about it, I was invited to my first SU Party. My spending money has never earned any interest since then....LOL
That friend has maybe 2 sets, and 2 ink pads and a pack of paper...I know a few who scrapbook, but it's mainly patterned paper and stickers.
That's why I need SCS...I love finding people who have the same interest and love of stamping....as well as people who are challenging me to do better cards! Without this online world I would be back at a little tote that fit my entire collection of stamping stuff!

I actually do alot....both my DD's try and make there own cards and also get about 4 other homemade Xmas cards from friends.....love to get them and they are always so beautiful!!
Yes, I do. I have a mother, a father, a sister, a daughter-in-law, a son, two granddaughters, a niece, and several friends who make cards! Add to that the RAKS I receive from SCSers and I find handmade cards in my mailbox on a regular basis!
Only RAKs and a few crafting cyber friends I have...most of my real life friends don't craft. So I get Hallmark from all of them...yet they all expect the best crafted cards from me, lol.
Yes....my BFF sends them, my old downline still sends them occassionally and my SU! demo sends me cards....I also occassionally get something unexpected from demos that I met through TAC when I was with them. Oh and my kiddo occassionally makes me a card---those are the BEST!
I only send them, have never received one. But my family & friends love getting handmade cards. They keep all of them. I'm hoping that my niece will be sending me some since I recently got her into stamping.

I have gotten a few random handmade Christmas cards ans such - was definitely a surprise...most of the handmade cards I receive are from SCS friends though
Ohhh...I do get handmade cards from my daughters...but they don't actually send me them, so I wasn't thinking about that. They are 12 and 7...my 12 year old actually sells *custom* cards at school...at the rate of about 2 a day for $1-1.50! Kids ask for the funniest things, like today one wanted a card with a fish and a giraffe in Packers colors. She gladly obliged, when I would have puked first. LOL

I get handmade cards via the RAK forum, here on Splitcoast. It's really fun because a card may come from any one of several thousand Splitcoast members at any time of the year.
If you haven't joined Splitcoast's RAK, just do this...
* Click the Quick Links button (near the top of this page)and select Edit Profile (or almost any one of the Quick Links choices). * Next click the Group Memberships button on the left of the page. Several groups are listed * Select the Join Group radio button alongside RAK, then click on the oval Join Group button A dialogue box will ask you for a reason. If you say you are uhmletssayanaxemurderer, they may not let you join, but other than that it should be okay. Then you just wait a couple of weeks. You will get a PM saying that have been approved. Now you go to the RAK forum and begin sending cards to others. After a while you will receive REAL handmade cards in your mailbox.
Occasionally. I just got a birthday card from a prayer partner I've never met irl. She loves gardening and made paper with flowers from her garden for a card and coordinating seed packet. How cool is that! Her daughter, whom I do know, is a graphic design artist who makes her own Christmas cards, so I can always count on her for a handmade card. My mom is a watercolor artist and has occasionally sent me paintings as cards. And my sister sends photo cards--she's an awesome photographer.
I'm just happy to get a card of any kind from anyone, LOL!
When I was a kid, an acquaintance (a commercial artist) of my parents sent out fantastic cards that were simple pen and ink designs of trees, ornaments, etc., often with an identifying personal subject matter., like their dog. But, oh, so classy! I was so impressed with them and inspired that I always wanted to make Christmas cards a special effort.
During our kids' childhood years, the cards were always photo cards, but eventually I transitioned into making cards. I have one old friend who sent handmade cards made with her kids during her kids' childhood. Nowadays, we rarely get a handmade card, perhaps one a year, and not always the same people.
I think what bothers me most now is that people send the commercial cards out to us but then fill in only their signatures. I don't expect the handmade card, but is it too much to ask to get three or four lines about their past year????
I occasionally get a handmade card from my SU up-upline. Other than that, I got a handmade stamped card from my 9-year old niece once. I had made a small set of cards for her one year as part of her birthday gift...and I got one back from her about two years later. Left me thinking she didn't like the cards if she still had one left after all that time! Orrrrrr....she found the cards so special that she saved them for someone who would really love one! Yeeeaaaahhh...that's it...that's the ticket! (remember that from Sat Night Live?!)
I do from my sister, siter-in-law, cousin, mother-in-law, and customers. I know how much I enjoy opening those cards, and that's what motivates me to send cards to others. I love to send "Thinking of You" type cards, because those type of cards are always the biggest surprise.
Only from my nieces (who are 12 and 14) and from all of my SCS friends! Christmas and my birthday are so much more fun since finding this website. LOL.
2 of my friends (one purchases HM from another friend to send out) and one makes her own. Also my DH is great about the handmade cards...he always makes the 'better' card for the occasions where we exchange them
I do quite often either from my crafty friends, SU demonstrator, fellow SCS's, and just this year my sister. Its great to see what everyone comes up with. Everyone has their own style.

I got one right before we moved from my dh's aunt. She knows I make my own cards and appreciates them very much. She was visiting one of dh's cousins and went to a SU workshop. She actually sent me her first card with a note telling me she thought I would appreciate her first attempt at card making. I will never get rid of it, I thought it was very sweet!!
Other than that, I get some from my SU demo, her club members, and of course my kids. I actually got a fold-down desk for them to work on in my new craft room, for when they want to make a card!

I WISH! I get an occasional one from my Mom. Maybe I need to participate in more swaps! LOL. I joined in my first ever this past Sunday on the give/recieve card thread and I think I'm addicted.......
My crafty friends send them but the sweetest one I got was from my boyfriend for my birthday. He went to my house and got into my supplies and tried to make me a card. He stamped, colored and stickled and then couldn't figure out why glitter was smearing all over the card so he glued that card into another card to cover up the glitter. He stamped again and ended up with the biggest mess but wrote the sweetest message for me inside. It looked like a five year old had made it but it was really sweet of him to try!
yes! i have a friend who was a ctmh consultant ad was the one who inspired me to get into this papercrafting business in the first place. she's turned me into a monster!

the very first one i got from an old friend was what piqued my interest in making cards myself. until then i had been making them on the computer. that is ancient history!
i have received a few from fellow SCSers.
my friend/demo sends me cards on occasion. but other than that... nodda!
I get lots of handmade cards. All my sisters and my friends make them. The funniest thing was when I got a get well card a few weeks ago and the lady had purchased it from the church bookstore (I supply all the cards) and it was one of my favs that I made. Now I have it back...that was so funny.
It always makes a person smile to get a handmade card because you know someone was thinking about you. That is one of the biggest reasons I supply so many cards to the troops...think of all the smiles........
blessings.
Only from my girls (5 and 3). I have been trying to lure my sister into the world of stamping so we can exchange cards and goodies but she is still resisting.
I get 1 from a friend who got into stamping at the same time I did and we do stamp club together. Not many others though, but sometimes from my mom when she makes my sister make me a card because my mom says she shouldn't have to buy a card if all the craft stuff is in her house (I still live at home). All of them have the same layout cause my sister isn't really into stamping but she does want to do it later after she finishes high school. I make lots of cards for my mom to send out to family and friends, they all know I make them and really appreciate them. They all expect them now too. LOL

A few from fellow SCS members from the wish rak group and online friends. A couple from my best friend. (All of which I still have and just adore) Otherwise pretty much just ones from my kids.

me too!
but her passion is sewing and she has WAY more invested it that. she says she can't afford another hobby!
Most of the time I am the one sending out handmade cards...but I have received a few that have sent me a "handmade" card (bought from the store) but nonetheless it's the thought that counts. But I have received actual handmade cards as thank you cards before.
I get them from fellow crafters from SCS or ASB. Also from my sister-in-law, as well as my friend Denise. Normally only on holidays though. Or special occassions just as birth announcements. Most people I know don't craft so I get store bought cards from them.

Come to think of it, the only ones I receive are from other stampers. Even one of my friends who is a stamper doesn't send out hand-made cards very often (not sure why). Received one from a lady one day which really surprised me as she's not a stamper. She had gone to a party and made a few and sent me one knowing that I stamp. Glad you asked this question.
