Ditto.........we get all sorts of inspiration from here. Every once in awhile I have a brilliant idea, but who's to say it wasn't a layout I saw going through the gallery.......we're all here to ping off each others beautiful work........going back to the gallery now........
I think I semi-case. I won't ever copy someones whole card because I kinda feel like I didn't even make the card. But I love the gallery! I get a ton of ideas there for different ways to use things that I would have never thought of, and I get lots of layout ideas there
Emily, I *love* them dancing bananas and your cute little pooch too!
I can't CASE as in exactly duplicate a card on SCS because I don't have any of the papers and inks, but I do browse the galleries for categories (masculine, Christmas, etc) to modify for use with other stamps I have, and also for the few SU stamp sets I have to get layout ideas. I usually still agonise over the little details like whether to use a crystal brad, regular brad, or eyelet, etc etc etc.
Location: The kids are asleep, I'm in my happy stampin' place!

I'm a semi-caser as well. I might see a lay out I like but I'll change the stamps I use, add or subtract elements as it suits me. I often find bits of cards or scrapbook pages that appeal to me (color combos, embellishment combos, titles etc.) and use that as my starting point. I seldom copy a lay out exactly.
I suppose I semi-case too! I use a card I like as a starting point. I work out what it is I like, is it the colors, the layout, the sets used and then I use that as a starting point for inspiration.
I'm a CASEer too! I usually try to semi-CASE, as everyone else has said. Occasionally, tho, a card is just so perfect that I can't find anything to change. I don't post those, and if anyone compliments it IRL, I always give credit. I am getting better, tho, and am coming up with more of my own creations!
I've never CASED a card, at least not consciously. I find I have more ideas than I can possibly use, which is why I rarely make the same card twice. Even my Christmas cards are one-of-a-kind. I have often, however, been inspired by the wonderful work on this site....a color scheme, layout, or detail will set the wheels turning!
I don't keep Favorites because I don't want to be too influenced by someone else's work.

Semi-caser, here. I am getting a little better at original stuff (though I wonder how much is just the forgotten memory of something I've seen!). I usually don' t like exact copying (doesn't feel like mine, KWIM), but I look mainly for layout ideas. When I find a nice, balanced layout, I copy it into my notebook. I also keep a list of color combos, embellishment ideas, and so forth I've seen and liked. Then I mix and match from my lists. It makes me happy!
I confess! I am more of a caser than a creative creator. Although, the longer I stamp, I am getting more daring and able to come up with a few original cards.
yup, all the time! Or I save a card that has an element I want to try...like faux stitching. Usually, I'll case the original card that inspired me, then I'll do another and change a few things, and so on. Until I can use that element all on my own. kwim?
I used to CASE all the time because I would find myself sitting at my stamping desk STARING at all my wonderful supplies and not knowing where to start!
My creativity took a quantum leap - which only means that I went from not being able to stamp ANYTHING original to at least getting myself started and within a few hours creating a card of my own :-) - when I started participating in the weekly challenges, especially the sketch challenge. Seems it was coming up with the layout that was so daunting! I really look forward to them every week and thanks SO much to you wonderful ladies who do all the hard work of co-ordinate them!!
I have been known to buy a stamp set or particular tool or embellishment just so I COULD case! That's why I don't have a gallery (that and the fact that I haven't yet bothered to organize all the scans of the cards I have made.) I have only about 5 or 6 cards that I have TRULY made completely alone. The rest are either identical cases or very similar!
Someday when I am grown up and have a gallery of my own, I will post a card that I case'd from a case. Then you'll see 3 cards made from one original idea!! But in this case, none of the 3 are exactly alike!
Yep, I case, semi-case and do original designs. I do have a few where I have cased exactly, others I get inspiration from and low and behold it transforms into something completely different and then there are the originals.
Caseing is fun, healthy and a great way to learn new techniques. One of my favorite challenges was when we cased a card from the catty. As long as you give credit to the original creator, I think it is a great way to learn until you become confident enough to venture out onto your own.
I don't want to open a whole can of worms here, but just thought I'd add a PSA for the lurkers' benefit that whether or not you upload a CASEd card is a personal choice. No Originality Police are going to come and take away your stamps if your gallery is full of CASEs. It is best if you give credit for the original design, even if just to say, "CASEd from one of the wonderful artists on SCS whose name I don't know." We love seeing your uploads and even CASEing can be hard work! End of PSA!
I CASE elements of cards I see... a cute way to tie a bow or fasten a buckle... a color layout I love or the way a punch is used. I rarely CASE an exact layout. I also CASE or derive inspiration from fashion or print advertising. I keep a scetch book of ideas I get inspired by all of the above!
Usually I CASE but sometimes I come up with something on my own.
Often something I see can be adapted to suit the stamps I have (for example, I wanted the Be Happy flower, so I made my own out of the Love Without End flower Gallery at Splitcoaststampers)
I don't think there is anything wrong with CASEing or even posted CASEd cards as longs as credit is given.
Since I have not one creative bone in my body I am so thankfull to the Creative Geniuses here on SCS. I have really gotten into stamping after learning about this website. I CASE all the time. When people compliment me on my cards I always tell them I get my ideas from SCS.

Thanks for sharing the flower card. It reminds me that there are many ways of using script stamps.
IMO, if someone does not want their creations cased, they would never, ever put them on a website gallery. I case and HOPE that my cards ARE cased by others LOL!
How can you help but case. I sit with my stuff in front of me and what I make just comes out. When you've seen so many different cards they must be sitting in your brain. I don't ever look at a card example and say I'm going to make that....I have to let my card come to me. Planning it just doesn't work for me...it's never what I plan.
Well thanks for your input ladies....I myself can't case even when I want too....not consciously anyway, but I do case specific ideas from time to time, like a better way to tie ribbon or to have a sentiment put a certain way.....there are sooooo many cards I would LOVE to case, but just never seem to start.
But all the cards I save, give me sooo much inspiration, that my own ideas can come flooding in, which is fantastic. One of these days I will case something 100% as they are all so FAB!!!
Now that I have been stamping for a while, I don't make exact copies, but I get most of my ideas from the gallery. I change the colors or stamps to fit my stamping personality, but I am inspired by all the great stuff on here!
