Did you ever...

get done with a project, send them out, THEN realize you forgot a step in the making???? I made oa couple of the nugget purses last night for M-day gifts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cf_25...eature=related , and now that I'm at work getting ready to send them out, I realized I forgot to sponge around the edges.... :???:

Sponging the edes is no biggie! I spend a great deal of time on a Valentine card, cutting the stamped image to create several raised layers. I stamped my envie to match. Dropped it in the mail and The next day I remembered I forgot to sign the inside of the card!!

 that's how you send them in England - I remember being teased by my DH who was then my BF about signing the one I sent him.

As for OP I tend to leave out a planned step on just about every card I make... in fact I'm thinking about calling it a "feature";)

I made an accordian type file box thing the other day and put it together before adhering the inserts on the inside. Now it doesn't stay together well. I guess I should read the directions instead of just trying to follow the pictures next time.

I'm always gluing layers on before I am ready to, then I realize that I forgot to tuck under some ribbon, or that the card would be better with some eyelets. I am constantly tearing my cards apart, lol. I am getting better about it though.

I am notorious for putting projects, toys, furniture together first and reading the directions after! I went so far the other day as to take something back to the store saying "These pieces are just not in here". Well, after SHE read the directions, she found out they were stored on the inside of the appliance! Did I ever feel DUMB! LOL

I think I have made EVERY ONE of the aforementioned mistakes. The phrase "Misery Loves Company" comes to mind. I'm just SO HAPPY that I'm not the only one.

Look on the bright side, they weren't printed on expensive paper by the thousands. LOL

I usually don't forget a step, but I always forget to put stuff in my packages before mailing them out. Its really annoying at Christmas time when I have to make more than one trip to the post office. I just recently did a card swap and I forgot to put my little "gift" for the hostess and found it about a week later behind my desk (it fell behind when I was putting together the package). Another trip to the post office....

I'm constantly forgetting steps during my design process. One thing I always remind myself is the recipient has no idea you forgot to sponge the edges. They will think it's beautiful anyway!

totally agree! I am always forgeting to sponge one of the layers,
oh well.... especially if its for a swap, and its already packed up ready to go postal. I always try to have my sample in front of me, so I can get a visual, but even then, I forget too!

Can I add my name to this? I do the same thing.

Repeat this mantra as often as necessary:
"It's a hand-made card ... It's a hand-made card .... It's a hand-made card .... ... "

and also realize that you are NORMAL! ;)

Yeah, I am always insecure about my swap cards! But I have started doing them in assembly line order so I dont paste the wrong layer on first or forget a step. That is not foolproof, but seems to help LOL
