I just got an invitation to a diaper themed baby shower. We are all supposed to create an original diaper purse (not supposed to bring any other purse or bag).
Anyway, I am under serious pressure because everyone at church is expecting mine to be "over-the-top" creative. I'm stumped!!!!! Can you all help me out? Put your thinking-caps on.
Okay here is what comes to mind. Maybe go to the thrift store to look for some of these supplies to keep down on costs.
Get a cloth diaper and use safety pins to close it all cute like a diaper of course. Then maybe some of those baby links toys for the strap. You could possibly stamp all over the diaper with cute baby stamps as well? Add some fun embellishments that are baby themed? Have a baby bottle sticking out of the top that is YOUR water bottle. Baby keys in your purse you get the idea then you can give them all to the expectant mom.
Ooooo...and remember to add a children's book (like a checkbook!) and see if the community/city is a part of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library* and put information inside about how to sign up if available in your area.

ok over the top: use a diaper clean of course!!! Maybe one of the swimmers so it's partialy closed. Good luck and post the final product
A diaper purse is just a silly idea that my friend Kim came up with.
The diaper purse is a game for our progressive baby shower. We are going to have appetizers at one restaurant, main course at another, and dessert at yet another restaurant. The serving staff are going to be our judges. We are just supposed to come up with a creative purse made out of diapers. We are not allowed to carry our regular purses that night. It sounds crazy, but I think that it will be fun.
One idea that I had was to make a large cloth diaper out of a receiving blanket and have legs hanging out of it. I just have a problem ripping the legs off of one of my daughter's dolls. I'm not a sick-o, don't worrk

Oh my that is HYSTERICAL!!!
I actually cloth diapered both of my children. If you know how to sew, making a cloth diaper is a snap. You can make them out of flannel, cotton. I would come up with a theme and run with it.
