I am selling items that I accidentally bought twice, or no longer want - or never even used! I'm listing stamps, dies, embossing folders, stencils, etc on Facebook, Craig's list and SCS.
Facebook as gotten the most traffic/hits by far. Within 30 minutes I had people claiming my SU stamps. Of course, they haven't paid yet - and it isn't sold until it's paid for, right?;)
For those of you who sell regularly, or you destashed recently, what are some tips and tricks to getting these items moved on?
What do you do with someone who says they want it, but won't give an email address or shipping address to invoice them with?
I went on to this site and asked "where can I post what I have for sale" and how to do I about doing this? Everyone was so helpful. I got all kinds of groups given to me for selling paper crafting supplies.
I joined these 2 groups:
Stampers Swap Shop Buy/Sell/ISO/Share/Swap
Clear Stamp Addict's Craft Room Destash
Here is my experience. I listed the same items here on SCS. Got barely a nibble and it took someone over a week to pay the wrong amount and I already had 2 buyers lined up waiting 2 days to see if those dies were paid for or not. I've listed these items here 3 times and really didn't get much interest.
Listed the same stuff on Facebook at higher prices (because you have to invoice through Paypal so you need to add the fee to your price) ---AND EVERYTHING BUT 1 SU STAMP SET SOLD IN 45 MINUTES! It was so crazy, and I had it listed on 2 groups - I was busy. The site admin was very kind and helpful.
I bet prices are better on SCS, but stuff sells on Facebook really fast. And no one tries to get you to cut your prices in half - they know if they don't claim it, it will be gone in the next 15 minutes.
The card making group I asked about this - the admin came on and said she would allow me to sell my stuff there also (even though it wasn't a selling site) if I didn't have a lot. But I went out and joined about 4 "stamper's selling sites" for future use.
I will have to hunt this one down and join. The prices on there are pretty good. The only problem is you have to catch it quick because nation wide people seem to be jumping on stuff pretty quickly.
I've sold the bulk of my stuff on facebook sites - very little here on SCS. Most of the facebook sites require the buyer to respond immediately with their paypal info and you don't have to have things on hold. Its first come first served. I would make it plain in the post that if a person is interested that the must provide paypal info right away and pay within 24 hours of receiving the invoice. I've had very few people flake out on me on facebook.
I did have one person drift on the purchase. Getting her to give info so I could proceed with the sale was like pulling teeth. I got fed up and said I'm done - respond in 3 hours or I go to next bidder before I lose the sale. And then picked the next person to claim it.
Funny though - she came back later to say she couldn't get Paypal to work (I had already sold it to the next person by then) and she didn't want me to be mad at her. But never thought to message me telling me she had problems. ???
But you are right - 99% of the buyers gave their emails right in the claim/bid up front and responded immediately to messages. It's great to invoice, get paid, print shipping labels and schedule pick up all within 2 hours.
Best advice I can give is join various groups - if you are shopping for stuff :-) and want to sell to make room for the new... and immediately stop and read the rules of the site. All of them clearly stated how they want sellers and buyers to behave. Admins are helpful also so ask them questions if you are unsure what to do.

I will be on a selling spree for a while.
I haven't read this whole thread yet, so I apologize if you have already addressed it, but where on FB did you post it? Did you just put it on your personal page, or is there a place specifically for selling?

Hmmmm. I don't know how to link from my iPad! I'm going to go look on fb and see what I can find out. I too think things seem to sell quickly and at fairly good prices!

Good luck to all of you sellers. I just give my purges away, but have bought plenty on line, so am glad others sell stuff. I don't have Facebook, so that is out for me as a place to buy things.
Another avenue to destashing if you don't want to go through the hassle of selling your excess, or the "I'm getting tired of these" items, that are in your stash is to contact local grade school art departments and/or local assisted living facilities, many of which provide craft programs for their residents. They are often thrilled to have your items added to their sometimes underfunded supplies.
