Default Cutting designer paper

Silly question, but...when you are making the first cut into a 12x12 piece of designer paper do you just cut a strip the size you need for the card you are making (ie 3 inches deep) across the entire piece of paper or do you generally cut up the paper, perhaps into 6 inch squares before you need it? Just wondering what seems be the best method. Thanks.

I just cut off what I need sometimes in a strip or if I only need say 3x3 I might just cut with my cutter down to just past 3 then turn it and cut to just past 3 again, so it just takes a hunk out that's 3x3. I don't cut the whole thing up though.

I cut a strip the size I need. I will measure the smallest side first, so that there is a bigger scrap left. For example, if I need a 3x4 piece, I will cut the strip at the 3" mark, and then cut it into (3) 4" pieces. Then I'll be left with a scrap that is 9"x12".

I use this method, too. I sew also, so it comes natural to leave the biggest piece I can when I'm cutting something out.

I cut the paper into 6" squares. Makes it easier to work with.

I do this too unless I know I'll be using the remnants and then I just cut the whole strip.

Cut what I need. Since I now have a collection of 12x12, there is a possibility that I won't need that PP for another while and who knows what size I need next

I also use this method. I do a lot of "paper crafting" so I may need that larger piece to cover a binder, album, etc. I find that I have a lot of waste when using the 6x6 sheets so I don't cut my paper until I need to.

I also cut just what I need! If the paper is really pretty I cry a little with the first cut.
