I saw that the new cricut imagine will be on HSN next week I think the 14th. Is anyone looking to get one? Is it worth the $599 sticker price? Would love thoughts on this.
I will be passing. Not just because of the price, but to me it is kinda taking the fun out of. I love to stamp and ink and paint and create backgrounds and focal points and so on. It seems like the Imagine would be taking a part of that away...KWIM? I realize you can embellish the printed out elements ut just does not seem the same. I have a Cricut Expression that more than meets any die cutting I need and I wield a pretty good hand with the scissors if I want to cut out any digital art I print on my my existing printer. Not that the Imagine does not look like it would be fun to play with - but I won't be getting it.

I'll be passing too, just like I did with the Gypsy. ITA with the previous poster. Plus, in addition to replacing mats and blades, now you will have to replace ink cartridges (made by HP), adding yet another maintenance expense. No, thanks.
It looks like a neat machine, but I'm like the above poster who feels like it takes away some of the creative process. Besides, with Christmas coming up, tons of little odd projects around the house that need to be done, and the fact that I haven't taken any kind of vacation in a several years - well, there's just no way I'm spending $600!
Plus, I'm really bad about replacing ink on my printer. How bad would it be to spend all that money then be stuck when I run out of ink?
I do a lot of Print & Cut. I am passing on the Imagine. Price tag is "GULP!" I have a Silhouette and a nice Canon printer that suits my needs. I am saving up for a laser printer. I bet you in the next couple of years some crafting manufacturer is going to come out with software that works with the Imagine or another machine where we can print out our own images and cut at the same time. Then I will be interested.
Thanks you all. I was having the same thoughts. I think that maybe what PC is trying to do is move into the business market more. The one video stated that everything prints out and looks very professional. Plus I don't think I would be using the ink part. Once the ink ran out and I discover how much it costs to replace.
I'm not saying I might "never" get one, 'cause it sure looks like fun! But for now, I love my Expression, and I'm still learning about all the things I can do with it. Like previous posters stated, I also am intimidated by the idea of how much costly ink the Imagine might use.

you can still use it like an expression. i don't know that I will be printing all my images. I really loved playing with it. i think you will see more on it and the launch is soon. have you seen the videos and projects on my blog? SweetSassyDiva ?
I just watched the video and saw the finished product. To me the printed pieces look like any of the 1,000's of thin chip board punch outs or stickers you can buy for a super cheap price. Not impressed here.

That's exactly my thought when I heard about it. Where is the "crafting" part in Imagine? I get the images from a cartridge, print and cut them off using imagine so what do I do with my creativity?
I just got the Imagine for Christmas. It's my first Cricut machine. I like it a lot! The print and cut feature is pretty cool. It is a little overwhelming for a newbie like me. I have used other Cricut's that my friends have, such as the Expression. I like that a lot too. The neat thing about the Imagine is that you can use regular Cricut cartridges too! Sometimes along with the Imagine cartridge! My DH got it for me for Christmas. He wanted to get me the best one out there, so he got the Imagine. I know I have so much to learn. I need to collect cartridges too. As far as creativity goes, I don't think the Imagine takes away anything. It adds to your creativity. It's helping me to think outside of my personal box more than before. I would love to take a class though on Cricut use in general, but I am learning as I go.
I did have to update my Imagine and that helped things quite a bit. I think I am going to have a blast with it. It is quite the machine! I just need to learn what all it can do so I can try the things I'd like to do for scrap book pages and for card making. If anyone can post helpful hints for the Imagine, please lead me there!
