Could someone please tell me if it's Staples or Office Max that gives you a store credit for empty ink cart. TIA
Staples gives you a $2 for each cartridge, up to 10 per month. You have to have a Staples Rewards card and you get it back in the form of a Staples Rewards check.
It is Staples, but make sure you carefully look at the receipt they give you when you turn the cartridges in to make sure they credited you for the correct amount. They don't always get it right and if you don't catch it right then, it's basically too late to deal with it later on.
Just make sure you are able to use the 'Rewards Check' you get many weeks after you return the cartridges, because it has an expiration date. I think it's ridiculous! I had a $30 rewards check from returning cartridges which I didn't use right away, because there wasn't anything from Staples I really needed. I don't go through ink within a few months. By the time I did need something my check had expired. You would've loved the scene I created when I heard that, lol!
Needless to say, I don't hand in my empty cartridges to Staples anymore, I donate them instead.
That happened to me the first time I got a check. Well I don't actually remember getting it but when I said something about it to the people at Staples they gave me a number to call and turns out they were in the process of sending my second check and said the first one had already expired. One time I was able to save two checks and used them to buy more ink... I try not to use my printer a lot because my cartridges are so expensive.
buy 5 = get one free; return 5 = get one free - set up on the program and returns are prepaid postage; 3 months to use the reward and it's free shipping on the promotional ink cartridge. I haven't checked the rest of the details for purchases online yet.
with the cost of cartridges, it's just another option.
