Does anyone know where I can take a copic class in the Chicago area? I would prefer the Orland Park or the southwest area of Chicago. Preferably within 45 min of the Oak Lawn area. I have looked online and can't find what I am looking for!
Splitcoast always has the answers!
Where they offer the classes is where you have to go. You can check out Marianne's blog at I Like Markers and classes are listed there. It's well worth it to become certified. It opened up a whole new world for me in learning how to use my markers, which are an investment.
Found a better link for you at EVENTS COPICMARKER.COM It looks like a couple of classes are right in Chicago in October. You will want to sign up at your earliest possible convenience because they do fill fast. All of the instructors are fabulous too, so no matter who you get, it will be fun and you'll learn a ton, not to mention come home well-equipped with all sorts of goodies.
Thanks for the link. I'll send in my application asap. Have you ever heard of any independent stores in my target area that offer classes, not necessarily for certification, just for fun?
No. Chicago is 6 hours away from me. At CHA there a few weeks ago, Copic classes were being offered with no certification. I would write Marianne at her blog (links above) to see if she might know anything. She's very helpful and knows everything about anything Copic.
Check Suzanne Dean's blog she is planning to hit many areas, I am not sure she has anything set up in the Chicago area yet, but if you have enough people
You might contact Stamp Thyme in Lockport (not too far from Orland) they do carry Copics. Or, Memories and Beyond in Downers Grove (in shopping center at 75th and Lemont Road). They have just spent the last 6 months changing over owners and I know they have changed some things around...don't know if they do Copics.
when I can start stamping again, I think I would like to buy copic markers. But was wondering if anyone has thought of making lessons and posting them on you tube. I love watching videos on HOW TOO, and just thought I would enjoy learning that way as I am not any where close to a place that teaches classes on how to use.

The Archivers in Orland Park (159th and LaGrange) carries Copics and I think they do a class on them every so often. You could try calling them to see what's on their schedule.
