Default Converting Wood mounted stamps...

So now that SU is offering unmounted stamps (starting in January!!), I am thinking about converting my wood mounted stamps to unmounted. I like the idea of being able to see the placement more clearly (without using a Stamp-a-ma-jig) and the reduced requirement for all my stamp storage! Just wondering if anyone knows a Canadian distributor of the vinyl cling foam and if anyone has any suggestions or input they could share with me?

Thanks so much!

Stamping Bella is based in Toronto and sells e-z mount cling foam if that is what you are looking for.

You could just use the bare rubber on blocks with some TAck It over and over or double sided tape and save a bundle of $$$$$.
blessings.

Thanks! I thought about some other options, but I host a Card club twice a month and I was hoping to get something quick, durable and that will last through all the use. Any other suggestions? Thanks for the info!

I just started unmounting my SU stamps. I am starting out just using the foam that is already on the stamps, placing the sticker over it, and then usind Aleen's tack it over and over. I like this option because I like having the sticker on the back where I can see it through the acrylic block. I did this with a couple of my new sets last month, and they made it through my card classes with no issues. I am thinking that as long as the sticker adheres well to the foam, they should be pretty durable, and the most I should have to do in the long term is apply more tioo.

The sticker from the wood block? How are you getting it off the block nicely? Microwave? Heat tool? I am intrigued...

yes - after heating it in the microwave, it really peels off pretty easily. I started out by just sticking them to the foam with the glue that was left on both, but am going to go home tonight and test out how well the stickers have adhered now that the TIOO has had a chance to dry. I may start using a bit of adhesive of some sort to make sure the sticker holds on and won't pull off as you take the stamp on and off the acrylic blocks and storage sheets.

The sticker will likely peel off quite easily, and you can pull the rubber stamp from the block after putting in the microwave for 8-10 seconds.

I have, and I do like it. It was a combination of the expense (I am doing 150-160 sets) as well as wanting the have the sticker on the back that lead me to this method. I don't think you'd be able to put the sticker on the ez mount and still have it adhere to the acrylic block. I do use ez mount with my other unmounted rubber where I don't have the stickers though and love it.

I would say also that if you decide to to the ez mount and have a lot of sets to do, invest in a heat knife and glass mat. It cuts through the ez mount like butter and goes much faster than using scissors.

I know I've posted this a lot but it still seems to be valued input. Here is a pic of what you get if you peel the sticker off the block and mount it onto the foam on the back of the stamp then use Tack-it OAO.

Thanks for the picture! I only have about 15 sets to do... not that many. I think I will just start with using the tack-it. Can I convert them to using the ez mount after?

I don't see why not - you would just peel the rubber from the foam and put it on ez mount.
