Man I was hoping this would have ended with some good news. but hope all is not lost
our friends just got back from Jamaica
a couple had suitcases who required an extra day or two of vacation but all have been reunited with their luggage by now.
One girl was asked (the full flight landed and FOUR bags were offloaded for the entire flight) to describe "one unique identifying item inside the suitcase" so she gave up and described an item to make the most seasoned baggage handler blush and say "yep that is your suitcase alright" (she got it back too)
The best story (topping even that one) was the couple who didn't get thieir luggage til two days INto the trip (after air jamaica cancelled their flight the day before...) the luggage arrived missing a few items including two water guns with a letter saying "destroyed for security purposes"
on the flight HOME , they were flagged as security risks and subjected to additional screening and questioning (for attempting to import dangerous water guns...)
so rest assured your stamps and swaps are being well guarded by a travel alarm clock and two super soakers confiscated by customs.....
and we won't mention that night of intrigue they had with all the baggage from the cincy flight last week....
No News at all...However I did get an email response to my complaint letter and they are "sending a travel voucher that I can use towards future travel" as if I would ever travel with them again! Although I must admit they responded a lot faster than SU...Su hasnt even repsonded at all... Oh well. I placed a "replacement" order and will just have to deal with the cost....
However on a brighter note I would like to sincerely Thank Lisa Woods for sending me a fe swaps and Clara Rubalcaba who sent me quite a few swaps....I certainly appreciate it!!!
Pls take heart. My son was in Malaysia for the month of June. When he arrived in Kaula Lumpur his luggage was missing. Being a light packer, his luggage contained the family stay gifts for others on the trip. It took them 3 weeks, but they finally located his luggage when he was in another city. He finally was reunited with it the day he left for the states, so the gifts could be distributed, and the others mailed. He spent one month with only the clothes on his back, plus a few items he picked up! If Malaysia Air can locate a suitcase between Japan and Malaysia, yours can certainly still show up too! Don't let the long wait discourage you!

I have some duplicate swaps from convention in a Priority mail envelope to send to you. I just need to get the stamp. I think you should have this by the end of the coming week if I can get my act together. I also enclosed a few extra cards I had from a few stamp camps. My own swaps from convention are completely gone (and I didn't save one for myself, how funny is that.)
I'm still holding out hope that one day the doorbell will ring and your luggage will be at your door waiting for you to treasure.
Thank You Amy for such a cute Rak. I am wishing I had this set from the mini - since this is such a cute card.
I appreciate all of you who have thought about me by posting, send a rak or swaps. It really means a lot. Its been 2 weeks as of today and I officially have lost hope.
Looking forward for my replacement stamp order to arrive so I can play! This was a reeealllly expensive convention!
Please kkep us posted. I am still hoping your luggage shows up. I have never been to convention but I know I would be sick if my suitcase of goodies had been lost.

I have not read all of this thread, but I got to thinking:
I have seen on TV that there are huge "stores" where they sell stuff from lost and unclaimed luggage. Would it be worth it to try to track down where those stores are located? There's so many ladies here, maybe someone knows where they are. Maybe someone lives near one and could go check to see if they see a bunch of stamping stuff.
Just a thought.

I've heard of these stores. There is one in Scottsboro, Alabama. It's called Unclaimed Baggage Center.

This makes me ill. I have checked this thread every day for the last 2 weeks hoping to see that the luggage had been found and returned. What a tragedy.

I dont even think they will care!
This is disgusting. Which airline? We can all boycott them!
I laughed at my upline when she carried on all her new stamp sets. Too heavy, I said, and packed all mine in the checked luggage. Of course mine arrived without incident, but Gina's didn't.
I am so sorry! Unbelievable.
So sorry this happened to you. Unbelievable. I got to believe you will get it back. Airlines are such big business, they really don't care. I have had several issues and unfortunately, they will resolve it at their own pace, but I betcha you'll get it.....eventually!
I can't beleive all they gave you was $50?! That is ridiculous!

Gina, I am so, so, so sorry that airline was so crappy. I've been following the thread from the very beginning and I've been hoping to see an update that you got your luggage.
That just really bites! And $50? What an insult!
OH MY GOSH!! I can not believe it either...what on earth are these people thinking?? Just the cost of your luggage is over $50.00...much less the items inside of the luggage...just can not believe it.

Hi Ladies.. no news is usually good news except in this case. I have been avoiding even thinking about the topic because I have been so upset about it... No Luggage!
Good news. I have replaced teh stamp sets by placing another SU order and they have arrived so I can play with them
Although I am a little disappointed to report that SU never even responded to my email regarding the issue.
Better news: Some of you great ladies on this SCS site have been sooooo kind and generous to me. I have received severeal raks and swaps and today was an overwheleming day!
The First envelope I opened was from our awesome gallery moderator Kimberly Van Diepen. I was fortunate enough to meet her at the SCS dinner that was held for session I and we had the best time. I cant recall laughing as much as we did that night in a long time! Anyway.... she sent me a copy of her awesome swap and AMAZING In Full Bllom card and THE HEART KEY CHAIN FROM CONVENTION!!! Im so excited I LOVE this key chain and was sooo bummed I bought this and it too was in "the luggage"
If that wasnt enough to make me do a happy dance...
I opened a HUGE box from Kim Spinger in Hawaii! Would you believe she sent me her convention back pack!! WOOOO HOOOOOOOO IM AM THRILLED! How nice is that! Then Inside- was a box of chocolates all teh way from Hawaii!! I honestly dont know if I was more excited about the bag or teh chocolate considering I have been on WW since March,...I already had 2 pieces (3 pts)
WOW Now that is what I call a Happy ending- Thanks to the wonderful SCS friends! I am blown away at the generosity and thoughtfulness- I swear I was in tears of joy!
Yea Gina! I am so glad you received your stuff. I am still so sorry this has happened to you!! I am so pleased to see the outpouring of friendships on this board. You know your stampin' sistas are here for you.

I have just read this thread and I was crying for you. I know the feeling of loosing a bag. When we were in England a guy grabbed our bag full of all my gifts for home. I was sick - we managed to get it back but I had that ugly feeling. I am truly sorry for your loss of all the great things you would have got from convention. But its great how all the gals have sent you new favors. WAY TO GO SPLITCOASTERS!!!!!!

Just wondering if you had anny news yet. I'm praying they find your bags stuck in some forgotten corner. Have you checked with the airport sometimes they have bags get caught in the chute giong to the luggage carousel.
I have been following this thread since the beginning and hoping that things would work out and that the items would be recovered. I am a bit surprised that SU has not responded as it seems like they could do something for you.
Hey...maybe the thousands of people on this site should email the airline and put in our 2 cents about the ridiculous 50.00 voucher.
Latest update.... still no luggage. I have given up all hope of getting it back.
I couldnt be more thankful for the generousoity of teh people on these boards. I just received an envelope of some more swaps from Suzanne Yamanishi. Someone else sent me a photo CD of all of their swaps and the boards from convention which is awesome.
I am very thankful and try not to think about it any more. I focus on the fun of convention and the wonderful ladies I met from SCS and teh wonderful ladies from SCS that I havent met yet have touched my life by being so caring and thoughtful!
It sounds to me as if your priorities are in the right place. You are being a better person than many of us. You aren't stuck dwelling on the negative. My hat is off to you !!
Sorry that it looks like your luggage may be lost for good. But I would check a little further into the minimum allowance that an airline is responsible for lost luggage. When I went on a group trip a couple years ago, one couple's luggage was lost before we got to our destination. She filed an immediate complaint, and the airlines gave her a $150 gift certificate to purchase any incidentals until her luggage could be found. And because the lodging association where we were staying felt sorry for her too, they gave her about $100 worth of coupons to use at various restaurants and gift shops in the area. Her luggage was eventually found and given to her the day we left the ski area!! LOL! In the mean time, she made due with the same outer clothing, she purchased a few more "under" garments, and the rest of us let her borrow our toiletries. It really is a pain when luggage is lost! But I think you are due a lot more than $50!
Don't forget to check the lost luggage place where all lost items are sent to. They do get sold at least once a year, if not 2 times. So call them soon. It was mentioned in some past posting.
