Question Colouring the penguin from No Peeking

I am trying to make a card using the penguin from No Peeking. I have seen a lot of cute cards with him, he is done in black with his nose, scarf and hat coloured a different colour...I just can't get him to look quite right. I have never used my black marker before, I was surprised to see it doesn't had the brush on the end like all the others. I realized that I have to do the coloured parts and then the black because the black dries very quickly. Even with lots of huffing he comes out just so so. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?? TIA!! Julie

I had this same problem until I noticed my black was a write maker, not the stamping marker. I had to end up stamping the imagine in my bb and then coloring. Not sure this will work for you but I didn't have a black stamping marker. I will assume that the neutral markers are the right ones, I ordered the individual black marker a while back.

Could you stamp the image with a black inkpad and then wipe off the parts you want to color with a damp Q-Tip or something like that? I think you must have a journaling marker, although I didn't realize they had two pen ends.

I must have the journalling marker, I didn't realize there was a difference. I could try and wipe of the excess but it would be tricky, and this card is for a SAS this friday, so not ideal. Thinking about changing the colour of the penguin to dark blue or grey maybe...but the black looks so cute! Thanks for the help!

Just paper piece it. I think it looks better that way anyway than the markers. That's what I've been doing with it.
