Default Coloring Stamped Images

Hello all!

I have been searching online for tips etc to improve my coloring techniques.
I think I am the worlds worst at shading. Somewhere..... I ended up at a link called my creative classroom that has Coloring classes. Heaven knows when they will have another class. Does anyone know of any other ideas/ sites/online classes to better teach coloring? Feeling like I'm in kindergarten :-D Thank you!

Hi Jane - just to answer your question... I will be offering my Coloring Craze class again starting on February 8th. Enrollment for the spring term will start in January.

I'd love to see you there!
Hugs!

I can highly recommend Colleen's class! Also, something that helped me grasp the concept of where to "shade" (i.e. have a darker area) was to get a piece of acetate and use a Sharpie pen (or even a dark colored Copic marker) to make parallel lines about 1/2 inch apart. Then, after stamping my image, I would decide where my "light source" was (top left, top right, etc), and then place the acetate over the image with the lines "radiating" (i.e. starting) at light source. Looking at the overlay, I can see what areas would naturally fall in a shadow (e.g. below the brim of a hat, below an arm, etc.). Periodically as I work, I will put the overlay back on to make sure I've captured the areas to be shaded. I know that it sounds complicated, but because I'm such a visual person, this exercise really helps. Eventually, I got to a point where I don't have to do this every time, but when I first started it was truly eye-opening. HTHs.

Wow! I have to go try this - I too am visual so this would be great for me - surprised the lines are parallel as I would've thought that the light emmanates from the first point then goes outward...kind of like the "typical spotlight". Thanks so so much!!!

Have you tried you-tube? There are many coloring tutorials on there.
