here is my first card upload from Nov 07. I have scrapbooked for years and got back into making cards on a more regular basis a couple years ago but took awhile to get the courage to post one.
What's interesting in looking at everyone's cards is how much we've evolved in our use of embellishments and tools! We've all come a long way from paper and ink!
I, myself was experimenting with samples of paint chips. I had made a few cards previous to this and had attended SU! workshops but this is the first card I actually posted.
I only started uploading here this year after a lot of lurking. This was my first upload - TLC195 Teabag Folded Thanks by Cook22 at Splitcoaststampers
But I've dredged through all the archived photos on my PC, and this is the anniversary card I made DH in 2004, which is the oldest card in any of my folders. Before that I'd been doing cards on the PC, or origami, or embroidery...

And fwiw, I think it used to be way 'easier' (or at least more frequent) to get your card favorited: there simply weren't as many cards in the gallery for people to choose from to favorite.

Thanks for this, it explains a lot about my earliest entries.
Here is the first card I uploaded. Father's Day by MWDStamp at Splitcoaststampers One of the first SU sets I bought, and now look at and wonder why I bought it. I would have to go dig in my "junk" drawer in my stamp room to find my very first cards, I bet those would be just horrible.

Help, somehow I linked to my most recent upload to the gallery, not my first. Gulp, how did I manage that.
This just a note birds WSC35 by Cook22 at Splitcoaststampers was my first gallery upload. I never did like stamping with white direct to paper...
It's been fun looking at all the cards on this thread . Thanks for starting it, Katherine.

Thanks for sharing- you have a crocodile on your card too!

Whew, that explains why the original card you linked was so incredibly beautiful. Honestly, though, I like your "real" first card, too.
Question is......did you send those first cards or are they in the scrap box? Thankfully, my first cards are in the scrap box.
Ummm....some of my early ones WERE sent out. But I was so excited about stamping I really didn't know any better and my friends and family were excited for me. Now they mention how much better my cards are than when I first started.
This thread is a hoot. I'm chuckling along with everyone else. When I think about my first cards I have to laugh at how much my stamping has changed. I wish I had been a member of SCS back then but I wasn't so my first upload used a new template and got a lot of comments and was favorited a lot, esp. for me. I don't upload very often usually because I get messed up in the process, lose my patience and don't end up doing it.
I wish I had a copy of my very first card. I made it for my friend...and MAILED it to her! It was a turtle on his back. I colored it with markers (glorious green, I think?), and it didn't quite come out like I wanted it to. I can still remember asking her if she got the card, and her saying, "You made it yourself...didn't you?" and the tone of her voice. Now that I think about it, I don't know WHY I wasted my first card on her??
I agree, Erin, she did not deserve to be the recipient of your first card. The one you linked is really cute ~ definitely not the typical first card. Thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately, I did send all my first cards. I did not practice making cards, I just made them and sent them. Fortunately, my family did not complain and now they give me lots of kudos.
What a fun thread this has been. My first card was not my first upload, it was my third. My first was an altered tissue box for Halloween and my second was a nugget box - both are pretty bad. Here is my first card done about 2 weeks after I started stamping!
These were the firts two I made. I can't remember which was exactly the first one. I didn't have any stamps nor scrapping material. Sissors, printers papers (colored and photo), glue, computer and printer. Now I've got a lot of stuff that I don't know where to put and thus is scattered in every room of the house until I can arrange to have a special place just for me.
Not sure at all.....Here is one from some of my first uploads. I remember thinking how pretty they were at the time....
Really, not too bad, but definitely in my rookie year!
I hope this gives you all a laugh! I have only been at this since Sept, and I caught the craft show bug, so just getting back to cards. I have to get better, right?!
