Default clearbags.com waaayyyy overpriced!

I've heard great things about the company so I went to investigate. True to what I was told, they have a huge selection of items. The problem was I wanted to order only two things (clear card covers in two sizes) which came to a total of $11.00. I was fine with that.

When I came to the final total showing $26.00 - I was not fine with that!! Shipping was $8.33 and there was a handling fee of $7.00 - no way was I going to pay that!!

I found another online company and bought the same merchandise for $16.00 - a savings of $10.00!

Just needed to vent a little.
Thanks .

Yes, that handling fee for small orders is the pits. I needed some bags for DD wedding so I went ahead and paid it. What site did you use?

Default clear bags

i use uniquepacking..or uniquepackaging (can't really remember---senior moment) you can first find them on ebay type in clear envelopes or clear bags A-2 and can order a ton of great stuff...1000 a-2 clear bags for 14.95 and the adhesive is on the bag not the flap. I have been ordering from them for 2 years and have not had a bad experience yet..if you dont find the amount you need, just email them, and they will do what they can to help you out.

I use them too...love that the "sticky" is on the envelope and not the flap!

Another vote for uniquepacking (eBay). Just be sure you get the bags that have "P" after the size (A2+) if you want the sticky to be on the bag, not the flap. I got 500 of the sleeves from them for $15 or so INCLUDING shipping a while back. In fact, they have 500 for $9.99 with $5 shipping right now...

You ladies bring tears to my eyes....I know I am not the cheapest...but I could not have sent nearly 22,000 cards to our troops with out the support you show here. I know money is tight...The only way I can do this project for the troops is with the support of the special ladies here who order from me. You are very special ladies. Blessings to each of you.

Does uniquepacking combine shipping? I couldn't really understand their policy.

Here is their shipping policy:

"$5 to anywhere in USA.
$10 to anywhere in Canada & Maxico.
$12 to other countries.

We'll combine shipping (see details below) and ship items together for multi-item buyer.

Combined Shipping Rate:
(if this is the second or more same shipping rate item)

$4.50 for USA. (If you buy 3~4 same shipping rate items, the shippnig MAY still be $9.50 if they can fit in one box)

$9 for Canada & Maxico.
$11 for other countries.

We'll wait all your auctions end and combined invoices or you can e-mail us. Item(s) will be sent in 1~2 business days and e-mail you delivery confirmation number (USA), 2~3 business days (International) after we received your payment."

I will say that when I ordered from them it came in a Flat Rate Priority Envelope ($4.60?) and they charged me $5. I don't think they're trying to make a lot on the shipping and handling.

I only order from clear bags a couple times a year but it's a huge order so I avoid the additional fee. They ship fast and I have been pleased with their service.

I use mine when giving sets of cards as gifts. I will put each card in its own bag. Also, I have made baby shower invitations for two people and I mailed them in the plastic envelopes (in the white envelopes first). I just made sure that the labels and stamps were on the OUTSIDE of the plastic envelopes since I'd read here on SCS that sometimes the Post Office will return them to you otherwise. I think especially if you have some embellishments on the card, the plastic cover gives it a little more protection while it is being mailed.

I use them to store samples of cards that I have made. It keeps them fresh.

The Michael's here has started selling these clear bags for holding cards for super cheap! They are on the aisle with the gift packaging things, like bags, tissue paper, bows, etc. You may want to check out that aisle at your local M's!

Default clear envelopes

for some reason they are hard to find....but if you either do a search for clear envelopes. they are about 1/2 way down on the 1st page, this is an item number of theirs, you can do an advanced search for item no 180261088137 it may be ended by the time you see this but check in sold items too. they usually have a dark background with pack of envelopes with one laying across it for display. if you cant find it let me know and i will see what i can do.

Does anyone know where to get clear boxes for A2 cards? I have some from papertrey but they are 60 cents each. (Six bucks for a box of 10). I'd love to be able to afford to stock up but did not like the shipping at clearbags.com.

Clearbags is decently priced IF you buy enough to offset the handling fee...

I usually buy from them 2x's per year and combine orders with a few other people (we buy the single card plastic sleeves, plastic card boxes that can hold 6-8 cards and envies, white and natural vanilla paper envelopes, vinyl checkbook covers, etc...) so we are each paying a small % of the shipping costs (which compared to how heavy the boxes can be and how fast they ship is very decently priced...)

I am with you Jenni I order a couple times a year and I think it is like $40(avoids the handling fee) is not much to spend when it comes to what the carry. Also the shipping is not bad at all. They ship VERY VERY fast the longest i have ever waited is 4 days. Last time i ordered on a Saturday and had my order on Tuesday. So as far as I am concerned they are NOt over priced you just have to plan a bit in advance that's all.

Can anybody tell me why you would want the sticky on the bag instead of the flap? I buy from clearbags.com and the sticky is on the flap---this seems to work for me...

I'm looking for A2 card jackets. Is 20 cents each, including shipping a good price?

Creative image stamps (www.cistamps.com) is another place where you can get clear bags and clear boxes as well (last time I ordered the boxes were 0.50 each). They also make custom stamps, I had one done in my daughter's name and it is beautiful! Their shipping wasn't the cheapest (I usually wind up paying about $8.00) but they didn't have a handling fee either.

After reading this thread, I'm going to check out Amber's site too!

I use the clear envelopes for each and every card I send to the troops. I also put an white or ivory envelope in for them to mail their cards in. I am sorry if some feel my prices are out of line. I sincerely appreciate the support of those who do order from me. I would not be able to send all these cards to the troops without your support. I generally can get between 200 and 250 in a flat rate box for $9.30. I am sure you can see that this is a very expensive project. One I hope to keep up. Thanks so much to those who help me. Blessings.
